You will have to take the machine apart somewhat, or at least to the point of being able to disconnect and remove the usb port. Here's a link to the D600 service manual download. It will guide you through the breakdown process.

Check your BIOS settings to make sure the serial port is recognized. It will be under the same title as the other ports. Sometimes they ship disabled because most people do not use them...they use the USB ports..hope this helps.

There are 2 ways to get dsl one is a USB to 10/100 Ethernet Adapter.I got 1 off eBay.the other is 10/100 land card with XJACK connector.It was geven to me I don't know were to get it.On the box is 3Com Office Connect.Web site is 3com.com.I have a Dell Cp and both of them work on it .I have Qwest DSL.
