The audio on this unit was never very strong But from the earphone/EXT plug a Ham Boy could feed it directly into his FM stereo an increase the output or use a phone amplifier that plugs to your car power outlet.

I converted small transistor radio to accept the output and amplify my old Azden.

New Bushnell Backtrack won't turn on.

I have the same problem with my Backtrack. I unlock back battery cover, unscrew some screws. Then I take the screen, check connection - it's ok. Then I try to close power switch with screwdriver. It started, but doesnt worked. There are some symbols on the screen. It's all I can do. My BackTrack still won't worked. For comments:

Garmin 76S handheld; power shuts off with a black vertical line on the screen.

When I have seen this problem in the past it generally means it is time for a new unit or a repair. It is a hardware issue that a user can not fix. For your local repair depot please contact Garmin @ 1-800-800-1020

The answer is GPSCOM 170. I'm assuming you need it for the online scavenger game. It took me about an hour on google to find the answer.

Can not turn on my GPS Garmin nuvi 760

Can you try the direct to outlet charger? If you dont have one can you try a different charger? If that does not work then that means that the unit might be defective. Contact Garmin at 1-800-800-1020

Magellan triton 500 freezes up

You might have an sd card inserted that contains information that the unit doesn't recognize. This happened to me when I tried to fudge some old magellan destination maps onto the sd card...the format was wrong and the unit froze...gave me the message.

Charging the battery in Nuvi 760

1) Check the cigarette lighter is working by plugging in the lighter unit and see if it gets hot. If it doesn't then it is possible the fuse has blown.

2) You can plug the unit into a PC using the USB cable and if there is a fault you will get a message on the screen about 'USB over-current' but it shouldn't damage the computer.

If it runs/charges using the PC and (1) is OK then you may have a problem with the cigarette lighter - cradle cable or a problem with the cradle itself.

I bought a used Porsche with an Alpine IVA-W200 system already installed. The radio and CD player worked and I could hook up an MP3 player to a wire in the gloove compartment. The only problem was that the...

The expert I chatted with was both right and wrong: correct in that the problem was not the small battery in the handheld GPS unit (which feeds signal to the IVA-W200), but was incorrect in guessing the problem was due to a fuse.

I took the fuse out, it looked good, and put the same fuse back in. After that, everything works! Apparently, the IVA-W200 can freeze up (like a computer sometimes freezes) and it needed a cold start reboot. Removing the fuse completely for a few seconds (for examination) took power to the IVA unit down and back up again... voila'!
