Question about Hitachi Televison & Video

What is wrong with my TV's Ypbpr input???

My TV is barely two years old and I have had zero problems until now. However recently, whenever I switch on the Xbox (connected via Ypbpr) the TV goes crazy, switching on and off, beeping, changing sources. I've tried a new component ypbpr cable but getting the same problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is this the only input where the TV does this? what happens when you disconnect this source? May be your source.

If the TV does this no matter what input, perhaps you have some leaky caps on the power supply PCB,. These can usually be detected by their bulging tops & usually self replaced (if you have the wherewithall) at a cost of less than $10.00

Testimonial: "Hi thanks for the response, it pretty much seems to only happen if the box is turned on and connected via YpbpR although the other day it did happen when it was not on and the tv was skipping through scorches on it's own so now I'm not sure although I think the Xbox had recently been used Can you explain what you mean by "leaky caps"? Thanks"

Leaky capacitors would be capacitors that are leaking due to age, heat, etc. they sometimes can be detected by visually inspecting for bulging tops.

Also if it continues to do this with the Xbox disconnected(not just turned off, as if there is an issue with the Xbox it could feed spurious signals to the TV causing it to act up)AThen you may have a bad I/O(input/output) PCB.dd a Comment

SOURCE: Westinghouse LTV-13W3 blue Screen

I have the same problem. It happened to me 2 days after the warranty expired. I took it to the repair shop and they told me the tuner went in it.(BTW $400 to repair, I did not do it) I have yet to get a TV picture through it, but can run a DVD through it using the Pr etc. component inputs... Any information you have gotten might be helpful to me too. Good Luck.. Westinghouse is off my list of products to buy I know that.

Input jumps from cable signal YPbPr to black screen.Have to turn off & back on, use remote to switch back to YPbPR Is there a reset option? could it be dust building up and something overheating? 7

I think it has something to do with the 1080 or 720 input when you switch between devices maybe. Happens on mine also. You can check your user manual on your tv and see if there is a reset for your tv.

I have lost the picture and instead get ypbpr:2 on the screen.

Change your INPUT selector until you get back to TV/cable input or til you get back to the input that your sattelite/cable box is hooked into on the TV.

How do you connect a Sansui STB-HD01 (set top box) to an LCD tv?

Hi trishallan! I will be more than glad to assist you in this concern.. On the back of your Sansui STB-HD01 (Set top box) there is an input name - ANT In- Attached an external antenna to this terminal. If your LCD TV is an HDTV you can use the HD-YPbPr (you will see there Red, Green, Blue) on the back of the Sansui-STB-HD01, The cable that your going to use is the component cable - the color is Red, Green, Blue) - connect the 1st end to the back of the sansui-set top box and the other end is going to your LCD-TV. If your LCD TV is not and HDTV you cand use the other terminal which is on the right side of the HD-YPbPr, the SD-YPbPr, you can use the same cable - the Red, Green, Blue, .. then there is s display switch-Set this switch in conjunction with MODE switch according to your TV display capability.and there is a mode select- Set this switch in conjunction with DISPLAY switch according to your TV display capability, then u need to tune in the tv to compionent channel, use the LCDtv remote to cycle the input of your tv.

if you have any query please feel free to get in touch..

No picture at all on daewoo lcd tv

I have a problem that looks similar. After some research and troubleshooting, I believe that the problem with my TV is the A/D decoding chip that takes care of the component video inputs. These chips are not simple analog to digital converters. They understand the component video (YPbPr) signals and need to sync to them at the various transmission frequencies and convert them to 3 digital YUV data streams with the correct number of pixels and dimension. I am only a computer engineer, but I guess these chips probably aren't very reliable or last very long... Try to use your TV with different input connectors and resolutions. If some of them work correctly, it is likely the A/D thing.

YPbPr inputs not working

Tacz, What video input# on the back of the TV is your component video?? Are you sure the TV is set to look at that video input#??? You may be looking at one of the composite video inputs as far as the TV is concerned and with nothing plugged in to that input the TV would naturally give the error message you indicated. Let me know.. Bill
