SOURCE: Anyone have a problem with replacement battery for SS8 intermatic timer

Copy following link for all Intermatic timers, including new Ej600, and older SS series timers.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Intermatic-timers-and-manuals.html

Try resetting the timer. Hold down ON-OFF button and push and release reset button. Keep holding down ON-OFF until display starts flashing 12:00
Clean battery terminals.
My SS8 manual shows 1.5 volt alkaline battery but does not specify the shape or size of battery.
If the display is visible, then timer is getting power.
The low battery error might clear up after reset, but if it does not, then replace timer.
Intermatic has new EJ600 timer that has internal rechargeable battery, and does not need battery replacement. Or use ST01C or Ei600.
Remember also that timers cannot be exposed to extremes of hot or cold, or the battery can stop functioning.

I have an Intermatic E1600 Digital Wall Timer and I cannot remember how to reset it to an earlier time...and I have misplaced the instruction manual. Any help you can give me is appreciated! Steve

You probably have Intermatic Ei600 which is 5-year warranty timer that uses CR2 battery, and has same programming steps as lighter-weight Intermatic ST01C timer.
Open following links to identify timer, read ez set instructions, and download manual.
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/Intermatic-ei600c-manual.pdf
http://waterheatertimer.org/ST01C-program.html
http://waterheatertimer.org/Intermatic-timers-and-manuals.html

The timing programs for Ei600 and ST01C timers remain in memory indefinitely even if battery goes dead. If you re-program current time and date, the original programs are still there.
If timer stopped functioning, then replace battery. Usually with battery replacement, the timer must be re-set which clears all programming.

Re Intermatic ST01C White Self Adjusting Wall Switch Timer Pgm indicates "SNST". I can't change it?

Last ditch troubleshoot for ST01C is to change CR2 battery and then reset timer.
Battery is inside compartment located below programming buttons.
How to reset: Hold down on-off button. Push reset momentarily. Keep holding down on-off until display shows INIT. Release on-off button and 12:00 is flashing. Reprogram timer.
If functionality is not restored, then timer is bad.
ST01C has 1 year limited warranty.
Heavier duty Ei600 is same timer, but has 5-year limited warranty.

Last ditch troubleshoot for ST01C is to change CR2 battery and then reset timer.
You changed battery. Make sure + and - are correct. Using alcohol, clean terminals. Clean contact points that stab into timer. Let dry. Push in battery carriage.
How to reset: Hold down on-off button. Push reset momentarily. Keep holding down on-off until display shows INIT. Release on-off button and 12:00 is flashing. Reprogram timer.
If functionality is not restored, then timer is bad.

My wall installed intermatic timer will not shut offf. Either by the program or the manual switch. Help appreciated

Timer model is not known.
Last ditch troubleshoot for ST01C, EJ500, and Ei600 programmable timers is to change battery and then reset timer.
Battery is inside compartment located below programming buttons.
Make note which way battery/batteries come out for easy replacement.
How to reset these timers: Hold down on-off button. Push reset momentarily. Keep holding down on-off until display shows INIT. Release on-off button and 12:00 is flashing. Reprogram timer.
If functionality is not restored, then timer is bad.
ST01C and EJ500 have 1 year limited warranty.
Heavier duty Ei600 is same as ST01C, but has 5-year limited warranty.

Looking where to find an instruction manual to reprogram my intermatic astrological wall switch the e1600

You posted under E1600.
Maybe you have Ei600
Ei600 5-year warranty is heavy-duty version of Intermatic ST01C 1-year warranty

One thing to note about this timer, the programs remain in memory indefinitely until timer is reset.
You might only need to reprogram current time.

Open following link to identify timer, and download Ei600 manual, and read ez wiring and programming instructions:

The wall timer to my outside lights says "noop"

noop means no operation.
This usually shows on older timer.
You posted under Intermatic ST01C.
Other have written to fixya with same symptoms.

CR2 battery might be bad. Replace battery.
Replace battery quickly and current time remains in memory.
Battery out of timer longer than 30 seconds, then current time and day disappear.
Programming remains inside timer forever with or without battery until timer is reset.
Others report they changed battery and timer never came back to life afterward.
http://waterheatertimer.org/ST01C-program.html#battery

Manual troubleshoot section also suggests resetting timer, and then re-programming.
Manual:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Intermatic-st01c.pdf
To reset timer, hold down ON-OFF button and push small round reset button with paper clip.
Push reset for 3 seconds and release.
Keep holding down ON-OFF until INIT shows on display.
Release ON-OFF and wait for display to show.
If display never shows, then battery is dead or timer is bad.
ST01C comes with 1 year limited warranty.

Advantage of Intermatic battery operated timer is simple wiring, plus astronomic function (dawn-dusk).
All in-wall timers have advantages and disadvantages.

Does not turn on exhaust fan motor in bathroom. Display functions work. Could it be the battery or the unit?

The problem can be either battery or timer.
Several people wrote fixya over past months saying that ST01C failed completely after installing new CR2 battery.

Battery operated timer, then weak battery can cause timer to malfunction.
ST01C troubleshoot says BATT advisory does not always display.
ST01C has 1 year warranty.

Advantage of battery-operated timer is simple wiring when box does not have neutral or ground wire.
