Question about Fisher and Paykel Refrigerators
In model RF 610A freezer is cold and fridge is not. Both fridge and evaporator sensors replaced- no change. Did notice evaporator coils with ice on them when switched off replacing sensor however this melted prior to switching back on. Never hear compressor running but must be working if freezer is cold -correct? Any ideas to further fix? Water is not connected and has not been for some years.
Have you checked the fridge thermostat? If the thermostat is ok then you should trace the volts which operate the valve which connects the compressor to the fridge evaporator coils. If the valve is getting volts then the valve is faulty. If not fault lies with control circuitry.

yes the evap fan in the frezer should be running when the compressor is running[it may not for a minute or so as it starts up.Amana's are good for the connectors at the evap fan motor comming apart.the connectors are white and will look like its together but when you pull it will come apart.i would always cut the connector out and use a wire nut so wont happen again.if any other questions please email thru FixYa and i will be glad to help. God bless ,tom

There are 2 possible problems. One is the defrost cycle is not working properly this is usually indicated by a large amount of frost on the back freezer panel. If so, the circuit will have to be repaired and the evaperator thawed to remove the ice build up. The other is the fresh food damper is not working properly this is behind the "lump" in the back of the fridge compartment above the top shelf, remove the louver panel to see if it is open or closed. closed will be warm open should be cold. The water dispenser reservoir is probably frozen due to poor air circulation.

Denis, frosting back to the compressor is usually a sign of refrigerant overcharge. The fact that you noticed one of the other lines opened could indicate a wrong charge. You will need a cfc certified tech to check this thing out. This way he can check for a proper charge, restriction or a weak pumper...Catriver..post back.

Unplug refrigerator pull away from wall. Remove cover over compressor and feel top of compressor to see if overheating or trying to start. If too hot to hold hand on top leave unplugged until we locate the problem. This could be capacitor, start relay, overload, motherboard. This can Be fixed but we need to eliminate cause before replacing any parts. Sea Breeze

We had the same issues with the water freezing and called a technician out. He added some extra insulation installed around the water lines inside the refrigerator and we also keep our frig at 40 degrees Fahrenheit, slightly above the manufacturers default setting. Hope this helps.
