The fateful Green LED Blinking problem can be fixed only in my opinion by sending the Chassi Assay. out to Mitsubishi for Refurbishing. It is a costly endeavor but it will fix it. You can contact Mitsubishi at 800-332-2119. They will need to refer you to a Auth. Mitsubishi Service Facility to come out, remove, and reinstall chassi. Refurbishing of the Chassi would cost aprox. 700.00 to 800.00 plus Labor and Service Call Fee if any.
I hope this helps,

I have a 50" Akai TV - that will not turn on

Good day!!!!

That problem is usually cause of faulty capacitors on the power supply board..

Just follow this instruction to fix your TV..

1. Open the back cover of your TV.
2. Look at the power supply board..Its normally connected to the power cord..
3. After that,,try to look at the actual image of capacitors if it is bulged on the top so that you can easily determine the bad capacitors..
4. After that,,try to replaced the bad capacitors using soldering iron and soldering lead..replaced the capacitors only with the same type ratings and value..
5. Some of the capacitors not bulged so its better if have a capacitance meter

When you turn tv on the power light blinks green picture comes on for a second then goes off then the power light blinks 4 times, also replaced bulb & one of the fans but cannot reset bulb setting...

In that case the power supply of your television have problem.Maybe there's a loose connection in the power supply board or maybe there's a leak capacitor. If you have no knowledge in repairing television and you want to do at your self, first things to do is to remove the back cover of your television.Look the power supply.Remove the screw and the cover of the power supply and try to resolding the board.Check if there's aleak capacitor. The leak capacitor have rounded shape at the top while the good is flated shape.Replace the capacitor with the same value.

My monitor takes 40 minutes to display picture so i used another monitor/ smaller .. and that starts right up ? is it the defective capacitors on the curcuit board? sometime i have to wait 40...

The way your monitor is acting is typical of bad capacitors. Really dead capacitors usually keep a circuit from operating at all. Other times, capacitors can be bad so that they are just extremely slow to charge up. But once they do charge, the circuit works fine until you turn off the monitor. Then, as you've seen, the trouble repeats.

You haven't said whether this is a CRT (conventional picture tube) or LCD monitor. If it's an LCD, it might be worth trying to fix if you know someone who's willing to try it. Many websites show how to take apart a monitor, identify bad capacitors, and how to remove and replace bad ones. Replacement parts are available from many sources (maybe even at Radio Shack). On the other hand, if this is a CRT monitor, you're probably better off just getting a new LCD one. Working on a CRT type is more difficult and more hazardous voltages are involved, and sooner or later you'll be replacing it anyway when the tube goes bad. Now is a good excuse to go shopping.

Whatever you decide, good luck, and thanks for using Fixya!

Did you get yours fixed? mine shows a blinking red light for the same model when plugged in but will not turn on. trying to decide if i should try to get in there or not to fix it...

Your power supply board is dead, u know basic electronics' and soldering? Most of the times, the power supply board just have dead leakages gases capacitors. These capacitors always bulges up on it top,or puff up on it top.Replaced these gases leakages capacitors will get your TV power stable, and work again.Or tries websites like, to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

Hope this will help in solving the problem....

When turned on, monitor power light comes on for a moment and then goes out. Monitor eventually comes on after several minutes. The same happens if the monitor is left on but goes into sleep mode.

This is a common problem on these monitors. There are three or four capacitors in the power supply, three on the inverter board and anywhere from 2 to 6 on the main board that go bad.

The number on the main board depends on how long the monitor has been having problems before it was serviced. The longer the wait, the more capacitors will have gone bad.

The power and inverter boards are easy to repair, the main board is not. As mentioned, it is a multi layer board so removing the old capacitors and the old solder can be troublesome. I would suggest you have someone experienced at soldering repair the main board.

Btw, our shop would charge $60 labour plus $2 for each capacitor.

Green power light blinking all the time on TV

After changing a defective capacitor, my TV still would not power up. After using a solution I found on this site, I held the power and volume up button down on the TV itself for several seconds, the TV powered up normally. I did notice that you had to do this while the timer light was flashing. Doing so after it went out was not effective. I initially only replaced one capacitor which was noticeably defective, and the flashing green timer light eventually returned. I will be replacing all 7 capacitors and resetting the TV. As mentioned above, the capacitors may look good but in fact may be defective. These are high temp caps which breakdown under a load but function normally when cold. Several people have mentioned replacing the capacitors didn't fix the problem. It appears that you must replace and reset using this method to repair some of these TVs.
