You might want to check and make sure that your power is plugged in [obviusly], next check to make sure that your data cale is properly connected or that your computer isnt in stand-by mode or hibernation. When your monitor doesnt receive data to display it goes into 'power saving mode' which simply is this 'Wake me up when you have something you want me to show'. SO try and unplug your your AC power for a bit and while doing that double check that your data cables are 'thumbs up' then reconnect your AC and try powering up. If all this doesnt work, and you're using a graphics card to send input to your monitor, check your graphics card, or try and listen for any fan noises just to make sure your computer has life...

LCD Monitor will power in and when connects to modem the power button is green then turns orange, what is the problem?

When the monitor button turns to yellow that means the monitor is on standby mode. Try rebooting the the computer after you have connected it to your modem. If the light goes to yellow again check that the computer is on and that all the cables are connected properly. HP Computer monitors are a little confusing, Sometimes depressing the power button again while it is yellow will turn it on and should so green.

My monitor is flashing different colors... it wont start up

chanel_luv_u, Could be possible internal SMPS/CCFL inverter power supply problem. If the PC is ok with different "known-good" monitor connected to PC, then vs17 monitor will need some work done on it. Do some reading here first for some clues!!! http://www.lesliewong.us/blog/2005/05/02/hp-pavilion-f1703-flatpanel-disolay-blackout-solution/ The first place I would look at on ANY ccfl back-lit lcd monitor that starts doing "very strange things" would be the units "switch-mode-power-supply/CCFL inverter circuit". Try YOUTUBE for video clips of DIY lcd monitor repair to see if unit can be fixed for less than $6 in parts. Keep this in mind though, Your vs17 isn't any different than any other ccfl back-lit lcd monitor in it's basic design and operation. Do some reading of fixya LCD monitor technicians profiles for more info. Let us know what plans you have after you do your research. Bye for now. 12fixlouie

My Computer boots and montitor says Going to sleep and flashes VGA : NO signal and goes off

Check under "Power Options" of the control panel of Windows that "Turn off Monitor" is set to "Never" Also check under the advanced tab of "Power options" that "When I press the sleep button on my computer" its set to "Do Nothing"

This will most likely solve your problem. the sleep button may be stuck on the keyboard causing the pc to quickly go into sleep mode
