Question about Altec Lansing IM7 (WMM137039)
Look for audio amplifier ic inside inside the unit and have it replaced,
if the unit is still in warranty period, don't, might void the warranty, give a ring on the dealer or manufacturer .If you live outside of North America, please visit website at www.alteclansing.com
and select your region to locate your country’s distributor.

This has happened with couple of other customers as well. Its blown power supply.
Altec no longer makes the power supply. However you can find used ones on eBay for about $25. I went to my local electronics store and bought an 18V, 2 amp power supply for $14. It works great and charges the iPod just like the OEM power supply. The store I purchased it from is JK Electronics in Westminster, CA 714-890-4001.
I purchased the same from JK Electronics and had the same result. Thanks, without a replacement power supply I would need to buy a whole new unit.
Thanks for contacting Fixya
