that would leave 124

2) 120 divided by 3 equals 40

That leaves 4

3) 4 divided by 3 equals 1

with 1 remaining.

putting the quotients together you get 541

with 1 remaining.

All can be done mentally with no calculator and basic multiplication tables that most school children memorize.

Now we have to take 5/3 and divide it by 3. I was taught that in this case, dividing by 3 is the same as multiplying by 1/3. 5/3 x 1/3 = 5/9.

If you have access to a calculator you can always check this. On the calculator, do 2 divided by 3 and add 1. Now take that answer and divide by 3. Write down this answer. Now take 5 and divide by 9. Write down this answer. They should be the same.

To divide fractions proceed as you usually do with any number. Just make sure to enclose each fraction in parentheses. You may want to remember a simple rule: **To divide a fraction by another, multiply the first one by the reciprocal of the other:**

One trick I use is to add up all the digits and divide by 3. If the answer is even, (a multiple of 3), it's not a prime number.

57 = 5+7=12. 12 divides by 3 evenly (4), is not a prime.

59 = 5+9=14. 14 does not divide by 3 evenly, therefore prime.

999 = 9+9+9=27 divide by 3 = 9, not prime

997 = 9+9+7=25 divide by 3=8.3 not even and is prime

This calculator does not have a key that you can use to find the prime factor of an integer.

You can however use the calculator to find the factors

1.** If number is even divide it by 2**

Keep dividing by 2, while keeping track of how many times you divided by 2.

If you divided 5 times by 2 before getting an odd number, then your first factor is 2^5

2.**Now try dividing by 3**, keep track of the number of times you divided by 3 before you could not divide by 3 any more. If you divided 0 times by 3, your second factor is 3^0, or 1 and 3 is not a factor.

If you divided 4 times by 3, your second factor is 3^4

3.**Divide by 5,** until you can't any more. Keep track of the number of times you divided by 5.

4. Divide by all other prime numbers 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 23, 29, 31, 37, 41, etc. For each prime number, keep track of how many times you divided by it, until you could not any more.

**Example: 23100**

*Division by 2*

23100/2=11550 ---------> 1 division by 2

11550/2=5775 ----------> 2 divisions by 2
