The 7550 Modem Router was sold directly to AT&T ISP and came with no support. These units were somehow now available in retail channels. These units should come in a brown box. NETGEAR does not provide any technical support support for this model.
Please refer back to the reseller for any warranty and support options available to you.

NETGEAR Support Answer No NETGEAR support for the AT 7550 Modem Router

You need to go to AT&T for support and how to bridge this modem.

SOURCE: how to configure paradign modem adsl2 6211-A3-304 in bridge mode for BSNL Dataone Broadband connection

I belive with this modem you will:
1.Access the interface, generally http://192.168.1.1/
2. Go to Advanced on the left.
3. Select WAN.
4. Now you may see several rows of info, look for the one that says PPPoE, and then click edit to the far right.
5. Select Next one time.
6. Here select "BRIDIGING".
7. Click next all the way to the end.
8. Reboot, after you clicked save of course.

This is how you bridge 98% of PPPoE providers with a similar paradign modem.

Of course the next device in line will have to provide your username and password for your DSL connection.

Hope this helps!

its not to hard if you have a physical ethernet cord from point A to point B

Modem/Router ---ethernet cable--> 2nd router with dhcp off

as a bonus if you use the EXACT same SSID and password your wireless device will rome with no downtime switching networks
(oh.. very important to make certain they don't have the same IP. if main 1 is 192.168.1.1 then set the second to 192.168.1.2)

ta-da twice the network but all your devices think its all one

I have at@t dsl ppoe service trying to connect my dlink dir 655 and a bit confused on why it will not work

I use same router at my house and a ADSL2 modem. I put the modem as bridge and enter password and login at the router. Use the wizard configuration of the router and it should be easily done.
If you have the wireless computer with G/N try to use a high channel (>9) for the wireless and avoid this way problems with other existent wireless networkS on your area.
Hope it helps.

Does a router or combo need to be connected to computer?

As you already have the modem you only need a router. In all cases the modem connects to the WAN port on the router.

I think your best bet surely would be to go for a wireless router though? Then you wouldnt have to trail ethernet cables all round the house. I'm sure your laptop has a wireless adaptor built in unless it;s very old.

I always use Netgear networking stuff so forgive me posting a link to a nice 54G wireless router :-) :
