Question about Hotpoint Washing Machines
Does it matter which hose goes in the back for the hot and cold water?
In a word Yes!!
The machine will fill with Hot water to rinse and if that water is as hot as the normal supply your clothes will shrink and the colours will run.
You need the hoses and the supply to the hoses to be correct so that when you put it on a cool wash it fills with cold water and brings the temperature up to the right level.
Bringing in hot water will kill the soap powders action.
Also the machine adds hot and cold water to make sure that it gets a correct balance for other programs
If you are not sure how they are connected then look at the back of the machine, there should be either a H and C stamped into the backplate or the inlets are Red and (White or Blue).
If the hoses coming from the fawcets are the same colour then take one off the machine place the end in a bucket and turn the fawcet on , if it does not get hot then its the cold one so then make sure it goes back onto the C or the White connector
