Hi, it's Ambrai from Crucial Vacuum.

This usually means that your vacuum isn't suctioning properly. Your brush roll spins and picks up debris, but if it is not suctioned up, the debris will go back on to your carpet.

Poor suction can be caused by a clogged hose or a dirty filter. First, remove the hose from the vacuum. Toss a coin down your hose and if the coin does not come out of the other end, your hose is clogged and you will need to clean it. If it comes out of the other end, your hose is not clogged. To check if your filter needs to be changed, open the dirt bin canister and remove your filter. For optimal performance, it is recommended to change your filter every three to six months.

SOURCE: vacuum not picking up dirt

The neck in your power head is likely clogged. Disconnect from the wand and look inside. Also check the wand.Since you have suction on the bare floor the hose is likely not blocked.

The vacuum spits out the dirt what is wrong

Lauri,
Most likely, you have a clog somewhere that is preventing the dirt from going to where it is collected in your vacuum and that will usually result in dirt being spit back out.

Vacuum picks up some dirt and debris but not all, and spits some back out?

Some blockage at the pickup or in the hose if it uses one---dirt etc being kicked back out is a clear sign of this----if it has a tube check that first, and if a head with turning brush do not miss looking for a blockage there.

Vacuum cleaner not picking up and sometimes spits ouit dirt

Check to see if bag (or if not bag then chamber is full).

Check to see if filter is clean.

If your vacuum has a bag, check to see that it is properly mounted.

Sorry I couldn't be more specific but it would help if you would specify what type of vacuum you have, whether you are using the hose or just the floor part, and where it is spitting the dirt from.

Hope this helps. If not, let me know the answer to the above questions and we'll go from there. Good luck!

What causes a vacuum to make lots of dust and throw back out what it vacuumed

It sounds like the airducts that lead to your dirt chamber are clogged. The dirt can't get through to the dirt cup so it spits it back out and blows dust everywhere.

I just got done fixing a unit with this problem. After a bit of time, dirt will build up in the lower unit and clog the vacumm tube. Symptoms: No air flow coming out of the vacuum. Motor is hot. Stuff is spitting out of the front Motor wouldnt start it had over heated. You should remover the roller and clear the clog by hand. Let the motor cool down and it should start once it had cooled down.
