3800. Where is the oil pressure sending unit located?

I'm not familiar with your vehicle. However, an oil pressure sender unit is usually located on the block, below the cylinder head.

it's more often than not a screw - in unit which may have a brass appearance and have 1 or more electrical wires coming from it.

Here is a link which will show you generic images of sender units:

They are -usually - just screw-in items. They are not difficult to change.

Where is the oil sending unit located on a 1999 nissan altima?

Not exactly sure about 1999 model but It's usually located next to the oil filter with a wire coming out of it or with in the oil drain area. It's about $12 to replace.
For vehicles with an indicator light, the sending unit is like a simple switch. When the engine is off, or the pressure is too low, the switch closes, and illuminates the lamp. Under pressure, the switch is open and the lamp goes out. The only difference in the above test, is with the wire disconnected, the light is out, and with the wire grounded, the light is on. C-50 Boulevard. My oil light won't go off. Motorcycle has proper oil level.

Do not run the motorcycle with out oil pressure. Fortunately, most of the time it is the oil pressure sender that is the problem. Locate the sender underneath the motor toward the front (single wire $28) and replace it with a new one. This should solve the problem. If it does not you may have to dig deeper and replace the oil pump ($125)or find the source of the oil leak. On the rare chance that the pressure relief valve is stuck open ($40). As always start with the cheap items. If you drove it home with the oil light and the cycle still runs OK then you probably just need a new sender.

How do I get to the oil sending unit

The oil pressure sender is a sensor connected to your engine block. It has two wires connected to it and one is directly linked to the oil pressure gauge located on your dashboard. The sender is typically located at the front of your engine block near the fuel filter and close to the intake manifold. Applications vary, so be sure to check your owner's manual to confirm its actual location. You should have easy access to it from the front of the engine block, but you may still need to remove some parts or components to reach and replace it like the fuel filter. You'll need to detach the two wires connected to the outside, unscrew the sender from its housing, clean the gunk out of the threads in the housing, pre-seed the threads of the new sender with a light film of oil, and then screw the new oil pressure sender back into the housing. The final steps include re-attaching the two wires and any removed components like the fuel filter.

My 1996 audi A6 has an oil sending unit problem...can you tell me what that might take to fix and why would this show leaking oil? I thought this part was inside the oil pan?

The oil pressure sender unit is located on the oil filter housing. These do tend to leak at times. The warning light for this switch is a red oil can and a buzzer. Replace the switch. If warning light still comes on, have the oil pressure checked. The oil level sender warning light is an orange oil can with oil level under it. This sender is fitted on the bottom of the oil sump and can leak past the seal. If warning light comes on, check oil level. If ok, check for damage to wiring under vehicle. Senders do some times become faulty.
