When you pay for the software, give your E-mail ID.
The company will send you the license-key via an E-mail message.

C module causes error message: "Error spawning cl.exe".

I'm guessing C Linker is the executable we want to bring in to make FORTRAN and C be friends; maybe you're missing an include line or environment declaration on the C or FORTRAN side to get it done (or better error messages!)

I have compaq visual fortran professional edition 6.6 for win32x86 systems (year 2001). I am trying to install it on my new windows 64 bit Dell desktop. It does not install. When I click the setup.exe, I...

Click Start
Click All Programs
Click Accessories
Click Program Compatibility Wizard
Tell Windows (64-bit) that you are trying to install a 32-bit application.

Or, upgrade to the latest version of Compaq's Fortran system.

Reinstallation problem

Same error here. Compaq Visual Fortran 6.5/6.6.
I think is a problem related to Windows XP SP3.

- Solution:
Re-install Windows XP SP3 (integrated).
Right after installation (no reboot) run the CVF installer. It will work.
Then do normall installation stuff.
If you have Windows XP SP2 you won't have any problem.
Hope it helps.

Couldn't find ANY solution with SP3 installed before CVF installation.

Fatal error LNK1104: cannot open file "console.lib"

Hello,
I've found these two articles online for you that I thought would help fix your problem.
The most important part from these blogs is this-->that he had placed the Fortran library path in the C++ library path.  Doing so corrected the linker problems I had but I needed to use the $(IFORT_COMPILE11) environmental variable as opposed to the default environmental variable that was used.  So I added:$(IFORT_COMPILER11)libia32
$(IFORT_COMPILER11)libIntel64
to the C++ library paths for the 32 bit and 64 bit configurations respectively.

Compiling and linking in vista

Vista's not my favorite yet, either.

There could be a million reasons why it won't run, many of which you won't be able to do anything about.

That said, perhaps turning off the UAC security, defining another user as an administrator, and trying to run Fortran might help. At least you won't be running into the whole "run as administrator" nightmare.

But, here's another thought...

If you're machine is powerful enough, maybe you could use Virtual PC or VMWare to build an XP machine where it will run.

(I cut my programming teeth on Fortran, a looong time ago!)
