The chute door is the reason your ice bin is freezing up and also the chute door being open draws warm moist air inside your freezer compartment causing massive amounts of frost and keeps the compressor runing all the time between defrost. You really n eed to get the chute door fixed. What is the correct model number? For the model KSRX25FT dispenser parts click HERE The chute door spring may be broken but you will not know untill you open the dispenser housing. Ice chute frosts up??

This is caused by a rusted plunger and solenoid . To replace them ( in a kit pt # WR62X10055 ) , remove the top plastic hinge cover of the freezer door , and disconnect the plug there . This removes power to the door . Use a small screwdriver or butter knife , under the dispenser control panel , and pry outward . Disconnect the 3 plugs . Remove the 4 screws on each corner of the white dispenser switch body , and slide foreward . The solenoid and plunger are at the top right , held on by 3 screws . Replace with the kit . Cleaning the plunger will not help . The kit needs to be replaced . ( note .. when reinstalling the white switch holder , it slides back in , on a slight track , so the dispenser board will pop back in flush . When re-installing the dispenser board , put the top in first , then pop the bottom back in place ) . Don't forget to plug the door back in .

Flapper in ice chute remains in open position.

Solved via another post. Appears that the solenoid that moves the flap needs to be replaced. Already ordered the replacement. It's easy to remove the plastic facing without removing the entire trim around the chute opening. About one inch in at the inside top of the chute area there are three small holes. Starting with the leftmost hole, use a small phillips screwdriver to push up while using the other hand to pull out on the left side of the plastic part that houses the water/ice selection buttons. Then do the center one, followed by the rightmost one. That exposes the inside plastic housing which is removed by taking out the four screws. Its easy to get to the solenoid that has to replaced - unclip the wiring and remove three screws. Then reverse the process.

Have a side by side with ice in the door but the ice door is not closes and it causes the the area around door and front of ice tub to condensate and then freeze up what can I do?

The dress panel comes off if you have to replace it, but there is a wire spring that forces the door closed. You can see it at the right of the top of the ice chute. There's a plastic arm that sticks out and presses against it. It may be that it's just popped off the end of that arm. You may also have a broken arm that the spring connects to. In that case, you'll have to remove the face panel to repair it.

Access from front of freezer door. Trim is just pushed into friction holders. Selector area snaps in. Phillip screws under that removes ice shoot.

GE mod #gsh22kgmb ww. port thru which ice exits

Try cleaning the edges of the flap and the ice chute as well. Once you've done that, check to see if the pivot rod is fully engaged at end side, as having it out of position could be causing it to "hang up" and not fully close.

If the rod has been knocked out of position, reposition it with your hands then you can lightly lube each end at the pivot points, with a food grade silicon lubricating spray. Use ONLY a food grade lubricant so you don't end up getting nasty tasting ice cubes or contaminating the cubes as they pass thru the chute and flap.

If that doesn't resolve the problem, you'll need to remove the chute & flap assembly from the dispenser section of the door and check for the return spring engagement, as it may have become disconnected and as a result, isn't closing the flap fully, as it should.

To do this, you'll need to remove the trim bezel around the dispenser section with a plastic putty knive (to avoid scratching the trim). be very careful when prying the bezel, do it VERY carefully so as not to snap/break the trim piece. Once you have that removed, you can see and get at the retaining screw(s) that hold the chute & flap assembly on the door panel.

Check the line drawing attached for proper part placement of the spring (part #63) and for seeing how your particular dispenser is attached to the freezer door.

Hing and plug fell out and now Ice maker door stays open

It just un-snaps. Pry gently along the top or bottom edge and work it off with a plastic putty knife. Snaps pretty good and sounds like it is breaking.

Ice chute door does not open

the solenoid is right beside the ice chute door. there is an arm coming off he door to the side and the solenoid has a stirrup hooked to the arm. you have to remove the trim surrounding the dispenser area to access this stuff. you don't repair the solenoid you replace it. ca. 20 bucks for the part

The ice flap in the door does not open when ice falls down the chute

The door is opened by a electrical solonoid, not by the ice itself. This solonid gets corroded due to moisture, To axcess the solonoid remove water tray remove three torx screws removing trim panel, remove 3 more torx screw holding dispenser module to freezer door two on either sides and one by paddle. Maytag has a kit called a fountain door kit that has everything to rebuild the ice door system,
