Hi there. I managed to find an excellent resource that should help you solve your problem. Try the suggestions given here http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/forums/inkjet/24337 i would start with "holding both paper and ink buttons then powering on untill the paper light flashes and then holding the ink button for 10 secs" Let me know if this helped. You need to clean the print head on the cartridges , please follow these steps\
# Hold the cartridge upside down, with the bar-code label facing you and take a damp paper towel.
# Use the towel to wipe the printhead of the cartridge on the bottom (where the ink comes out). Wipe the printhead horizontally in one direction only (left to right).
# Continue doing this until it looks clean.
# Then dab the cartridge on the towel to make sure the ink is flowing.
# Next, look inside the printer and locate the carrier that holds ink cartridges. Caution: Make sure the cartridges are not installed at this point.

1. Look for a shiny piece of metal underneath the contacts at the back of the carrier.
2. Take a damp cotton swab (use water only!) and wipe along the bottom of the shiny metal piece. Note: You may need more than one swab.

# Reinstall the cartridges, making sure you snap them correctly into the printer.

SOURCE: Epson Stylus Photo R200 and R320 Status monitor in Vista

I was able to install the original XP status monitor from the CD, onto Windows Vista Home Premium.

On the install cd, you need to open the 'STM3' folder under whatever language you are installing, 'English' in my case. There are several .exe files in that folder:

E_S1LAC2.EXE
E_SCHK02.EXE
E_SIINS2.EXE
E_SPSU02.EXE
STMSETUP.EXE
For each of these, right click on the file, and choose 'Properties'. Under the 'Compaitbility' tab, choose 'Run this program in compatibility mode for:' - Windows XP (Service Pack 2).

Then run the 'STMSETUP.EXE' file, and it should install properly, and work. Although I cannot guarantee that it will work on your system, or that it will not have any negative effects on your computer.

So far, I have not had any trouble with it.

SOURCE: All lights flashing on the Epson Stylus photo 870

Unfortunately, the Russian software does not work on a Mac, and it crashes at launch when installed in WZ98 under Virtual PC. However, I found this on another site, and it worked immediately:

The sequence to reset the waste ink counter is as follows:

WASTE INK ROM RESET ONLY 870, 1270

1. Turn the printer off using the power button on the panel of the printer.
2. Disconnect the interface cable at the back of the printer.
3. Hold down the "LOAD/EJECT" and "CLEANING" buttons simultaneously.
4. Turn the printer on. Release all buttons as soon as paper out light flashes.
5. Quickly press (within 3 seconds while PAPER OUT light is flashing) the "CLEANING" button for 10 seconds.
6. Release the button and the printer will initialize.
7. Once initialization is complete, turn the printer off.
8. Reconnect the interface cable.
9. Turn the printer on

Works great, no muss...no fuss!

SOURCE: reset ink-pad counter on epson stylus photo 1400

Hi,

The simplest way to do this is to grab a copy of the A10_IPR utility that Epson distribute to their customers...

The utility is available to North American customers if you register no this site page http://www.epson.com/ipr/

The utility is also know to be available in the wild if you search for "waste ink ipr".

Just remember to scan any download using a virus and malware scanner before you attempt to use it as some utilities contain trojans or similar nasties.

Hope that helps.

Repair manual

Hi Bill,
are you asking for the repair manual for the EPSON 2200 ?

I assume you ahve already looked here:
http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&infoType=Doc&oid=14402&prodoid=20306147&category=Products

If you need more than that, I think EPSON does not want anyone to see the official repair manuals...

Give them a call, they have excellent phone support:

My Epson stylus 2200 will not even power up now. I don;t get any lights. I've check that the cord is plug in the whole way, exchanged cords, and tried different outlets.

hi ldbartz,
i/m sure you already check all cabling issue.
if none if its working mean you got power problem.
on every printer these days, all system powered from an adapter,
if nothing happen to your power or adapter, printer will go power on and the power led will go on also.
the adapter itself (for all epson) is located inside, you cannnot replace it without open your printer like canon printer.

that is my opinion.

Stylus 2200, "print test page" in menu, unclickable.

- System Preferences
- Print & Fax
- Select Epson Stylus Photo 2200
- Open Print Queue
- In the top right corner of the Queue window click the Utility button
- Epson Printer Utility will open where you can check the levels and run cleanings and nozzle checks, etc.

Work in Europe?

According to the rear panel of my 2200, it will accept 120VAC 50 ~ 60 HZ. Which means that outside of a proper plug adaptor, it should work fine. You need to adapt the epson power cable to whatever the French use. Be sure it is 110~120 VAC. Ran into some 220 in Italy
