Question about Everex StepNote XT5000T Notebook

1 Answer

Xt5000t Same problem here..

I get no video but I can hear all the fans running and hard drive. I've removed most major components and found the issue remains. I tested the DVI output no video still. I haven't tried overheating it I don't think I want to do that could damage it more. I am wondering if my gpu or gpu RAM died.. I really wish I could find a solution or even just buy a new mobo for cheap. Thanks I would appreciate any other solutions out there as well my unit is out of warranty. I talked to Everex and they said if it is a video issue and you have the nvidia chipset that they may fix it for free but you have to pay for shipping.

Yes sounds like a nvidia chip, contact them and explain the problem to them, if it sounds like a typical issue they experience they will let you know and what ever it costs (assuming its cheaper then just buying a new PC) then its worth it...

Sir i have a problem with my CPU it can power up but there is no display fan run good i mean all fan run fine and hard drive i can hear it is spining.. i try a other procesor and video card also a 512RAM...

You'll first want to make sure that BIOS would load. Turn the MB on with only the memory chips, video card, and CPU (with fans). You'll need to add/remove individual components to isolate the issue. Make sure that the cases's wires are connected to the correct pins on the MB.

I had a compaq_pesario_CQ50 110us, when i press srt botton its fan run but nothing haps, no boot nothing,, pls help

Start taking your laptop apart piece by piece and test it after each removed component:
1. Remove the hard drive and test the laptop.
2. Remove the DVD drive and test the laptop.
3. Remove the wireless card and test the laptop.
4. Unplug the display panel from the motherboard/video card and test the laptop.
etc....
Continue taking it apart until you have only three major components connected: motherboard (with video card), processor, and memory. If you still experience the same problem, most likely it's bad motherboard.
By the way, before you start, try reconnecting the memory module. If you have two modules installed, try removing them one by one and test the laptop with each one separately.

Screen all of a sudden went black, I can still hear the fan running, machine won't turn off ...seems to be frozen,

Chances are your Vidoe card is now defective due to a known issue with certain Dell models. The GPU has a clocking issue, and melts down due to heat. Try pressing and holding the Power Button for 10-15 secs. to see if if shuts off. Leave off and do not move for an hour. Try powering back on and make sure you only power laptop when running on a hard flat surface. Placing it on a bed, pillow, couch, etc, can block the fans and cause excessive heat to sensitive components like your hard drive, video card, RAM, etc.

My gateway laptop won't come on

for a no power issue there are three major component that can cause it: defective memory, defective motherboard, defective processor.
components that could affect the computer in booting: external devices: remove all
hard drive and optical drive: remove it too
if there are any pci card or any card installed in computer remove it. after removing all component and only the motherboard is left alone you should be getting some behavious which will indicate your computer is still alive: you will get to hear a beeping sound, a display error message that no memory is detected. if it doesnt turn on then the motherboard is dead

I have the same exact problem with my Everex XT5000T. It is the Nvidia 7600go video card. If you call Everex at: 1-866-850-8835They will tell you they realize there is an issue with the video card and will replace at no cost, even if it is a refurbished computer and even if its past warranty. Thats what I did today and it will be out in the mail tomorrow.
