A fraction is just division of the numerator by the denominator. So all you have to do is enter the division symbol in place of the fraction bar. If you are trying to enter a mixed fraction: for example 3 3/5 enter: (3+3/5) were the / is the division button or your calculator.

here it is, in 3 easy steps (you will have to modify, because I am using a TI-83+, and I don't have a TI-85 to look at.):
1.) Press the [MATH] key
2.) "Hit" the [ENTER] key
3.) Repeat step two.
