DPI (dots per inch) is an output parameter and is irrelevant to the camera.

Let's say you took a picture and want to make some prints of it. You make a 4x6 print and a 8x12 print. Those will be printed at different DPI settings but It's exactly the same file from the camera, just printed at different sizes. The camera can't know what size prints you might make from the picture, so it simply puts in a default value.

If you really want to change the DPI setting as recorded in the file, you need to do it on a computer using a photo editing program.

What is dpi

DPI is "Dots per Inch"
Setting the DPI size to a smaller number or percentage will decrease all items size on the display, while setting the DPI size to a larger number or percentage will increase all items size on the display.

Typically, the higher the dots per inch (DPI), the better the fonts will look. If you set the DPI higher than 96, and you are running a Windows Aero theme, the text and other items on the screen might appear blurry in some programs that are not designed for high-DPI display in this version of Windows. You can avoid this issue by using legacy DPI scaling (Windows XP style DPI scaling) for these programs.

I have used last 4 year canon 2900B printer. How to set 300 dpi printing resoluation

Canon PIXMA Manuals MG2900 series Resolution
Resolution The data in the image you have scanned is a collection of dots carrying information about brightness and color. The density of these dots is called "resolution", and resolution will determine the amount of detail your image contains. The unit of resolution is dots per inch (dpi). Dpi is the number of dots per inch (2.5 cm). The higher the resolution (value), the more detail in your image; the lower the resolution (value), the less detail.

How to Set the Resolution You can set the resolution in Resolution on the (Scanning from a Computer) tab of the Settings dialog.
Appropriate Resolution Settings Set the resolution according to the use of the scanned image.
Item Type Use Color Mode Appropriate Resolution Color photo Copying
(Printing) Color 300 dpi Creating a postcard Color 300 dpi Saving to a computer Color 300 dpi Using on a website or attaching to e-mail Color 150 dpi Black and white photo Saving to a computer Grayscale 300 dpi Using on a website or attaching to e-mail Grayscale 150 dpi Text document (document or magazine) Copying Color, Grayscale, or Black and White 300 dpi Attaching to e-mail Color, Grayscale, or Black and White 150 dpi Scanning text using OCR Color or Grayscale 300 dpi Important
  • If you double the resolution, the data size of the scanned image quadruples. If the file is too large, the processing speed will slow down significantly, and you will experience inconvenience such as lack of memory. Set the minimum required resolution according to the use of the image.
Note
  • When you will be printing the scanned image by enlarging it, scan by setting a higher resolution than the recommended one above.

How do I change the dpi settings on my thermal take mouse?

The buttons on the top(under the scroll) are default for changing DPI. If you can't change DPI from them, install the software for your mouse and open it. You can customise your DPI from there.

I need to change my dpi to 96 but don't know how.

DPI (Dots Per Inch) is an output specification, used when printing photos. As such, it has no meaning to the camera when taking photos. You can make 4x6 and 8x10 prints of the same photo and they'll have different DPI settings even though they're exactly the same photo.

The camera provides no means for setting arbitrary DPI settings. You set it when making a print. In addition, many photo editing program will give you a means of setting the DPI value without having to print.

My photos turn out "grainy" when I print them, no

Check your DPI settings, Dots Per Inch. The Higher the DPI the Less Grain you will see in the Photo but this is effected by the photo you are using as well. If your camera is set to a lower DPI setting it won't matter how high you set the DPI on the printer because the data isn't there for the printer to use. If you are using a program like Adobe or Flash or Gimp to draw or edit your photos make sure the photo or picture is being stored at the higher DPI setting. This will make the picture higher in total size. For example a picture stored at 24 bit color 300 DPI is about 1.2 mb in size. That same picture stored at 24 Bit color 1000 DPI is over 4mb when stored.

How do I increase and set font size?

First, right click on your desktop and click on Personalize. Alternatively, you can go to Control Panel -> Appearance and Personalization -> Personalization.

In the Personalization window, go to the left pane and click on Adjust font size (DPI).

If UAC is turned on you will need to make an additional confirmation so that the DPI Scaling window will launch. You can choose the default scale of 96 DPI or a larger one of 120 DPI, which makes the text more readable. If these two options are not enough you can click on the Custom DPI button and choose another size (DPI).

In the Custom DPI Setting window you can select the desired percentage for the DPI increase. You have the following options: 100% for the normal size of 96 DPI, 125% for 120 DPI, 150% for 144 DPI and 200% for 192 DPI.

If you set the DPI higher than 96, and you are running Windows Aero, the text and other items on the screen might appear blurry in some programs that are not designed for high-DPI display in Windows Vistamag-glass_10x10.gif. You can avoid this issue by using Windows XP style DPI scaling. Just check the appropriate option and press on OK.

The change can be applied only after a system restart. Close all the running applications, save your open documents and then press on Restart Now. After a reboot, the font size will be changed.

How to adjust the resolution to 300 DPI on an

If you are scanning, you should be able to set the resolution (DPI x DPI) in the scanner configuration. If it is blurry, it could be that the default scan resolution is lower (10 dpi or even 75 dpi).
Settings location will depend on the scanner and software used.

Best scan at an equal (300 dpi) or even higher resolution, so you can scale the image afterwards without quality loss.

Unfortunately most of the Olympus cameras shoot at 72 dpi by default - a suggestion is to shoot at the highest quality setting and then use Adobe Photoshop to modify to 200 dpi if that's what you need.

The dpi-value of a camera is meaningless. It is a fictitious number.

A photo has no dpi, only pixels.
Only prints has a dpi/ppi.
