Question about Canon EOS 550D Rebel T2i Digital Camera

Open Question

Canon EOS 550D doesn't turn on.

There's not problem in LP-E8 battery, but does 550D have cr2016 in it, and how I can change it to new one? Or anything else can be wrong?

It may be that the contacts on the lens is dirty, follow the directions, by using a clean pencil eraser (I would also suggest to use alcohol and clean the contacts after using the eraser). Also to remove the date button battery and the other batteries, then turn on the camera (with all batteries removed).
Then put the batteries back in.

Canon also uses the low battery Icon as a generic error code. Try taking the lens off the camera. If this fixes the problem the lens needs a repair (most likely the aperture unit). If not then the camera needs the repair (either the shutter or dc-dc converter circuit).

SOURCE: How to replace cr2016 from 450d/XSi or 500D/Xt1

The other bloke doesn't know what he is talking about..this is plainly obvious.

Looks like the CR2016 is inside the battery compartment under a small cut-out plastic piece (on same side as hinge). Use a torch and you can see it under this plastic piece.

You either need to dissemble it to get access or break off this plastic cover to replace...or take it to canon.

SOURCE: My new canon rebel T2i/EOS

A 5 error is the camera thinks the flash is not raising. Look near the hinge for a small button and see if it is up or down. This lets the camera know is the flash is up or down and if the button is stuck down you will hear the motor fire a few times and it will then error.
Unfortunately, this is one of the problems that starts to appear on cameras with pop-up flashes. You can hit the button and pull it up at the same time. Only other option is to send it to Canon to get it repaired.
or, Get an Speedlite like the 430EXII or 580EXII. The flash unit may make your camera bigger, but the results will be much better once you learn flash techniques.

My canon 550 d camera lens dose not zoom autormatically

a 550D is a detachable lens camera and will not auto-zoom (it has a rubber ring that you turn to accomplish this with most lenses). are you sure you have an EOS 550D, or did you mean auto-focus?

Canon EOS 550D won't turn on

If you have Magic Lantern installed on your camera and it won't turn on, all I had to was re-format the SD card. Works perfectly now. You just need to get rid of ML.

I was wondering if I can use an LP-E5 Canon 500D battery for my Canon 600D?

No. The 600D uses the LP-E8. This is the same battery as used by the 550D, but not the 500D.

When The battery on my Canon 400d goes flat it loses the date and I have to re set it. I didn't need to do that until recently.

There is a small backup battery in the main battery compartment. I believe the XTi uses a CR2016 battery. It provides backup power to maintain the camera's settings when the main battery is removed.

I just bought a battery grip for my canon camera. but the grip ceases when i am using it for work. please help find solution

Is this battery grip a Canon or aftermarket accessory? Have you mounted the camera to a tripod if so what lens do you have on the camera? Are you using the adapter for the use of AA's or are you using the LP-E8 battery pack? Are you using the camera in portrait position or landscape?

Here is why Canon has had in the past some problems with battery grips but I thought it was a solved issue maybe not on the entry level DSLR's. What happens is there is enough flex between the body and the grip to break connection and yes it seizes up. Most Rebels will have a plastic lens mounting flange which will also flex with the weight of a lens (longer focal lengths). Also with the longer focal length lens it has more a tendency to flex the battery grip if mounted on a tripod. Holding in the portrait position the weight of the camera is actually pulling away from the contacts so there is a whole series of little possibilities. If it's a Canon accessory then it's a warranty thing if it's aftermarket Humm not sure should have something on it but, the quick fix is to keep tightening the mounting screw/wheel. I know that wasn't the fix you wanted but hey just telling the way it is.

Whats the difference between Canon EOAS 550D /Rebel / non rebel? Which is better camera?

Identical Canon models are sometimes marketed under different names in different parts of the world. Rebel cameras are known in America and EOS cameras are known in Europe. For example the EOS 550D is called Rebel T2i in America. They are in fact the same camera they just don't have the same name.

No Power To Canon Digital Rebel XT

Change out the CR2016 3V battery. You have to remove the rechargeable battery to get to the CR2016. Refer to the manual for proper instructions.

Had the same issue with a two year old camera. This solved my problem.
