SOURCE: Unable to access the router for manual setup

i've had this problem myself setting up a wirless router connected to a ADSL 2+ modem

Pretty much both 'routers' compete to give everyone in the network an IP adress and get all muddled up between each other. So what i found that works is to turn off the option to automatically give everyone an IP adress/DCHP option on the modem and plug it directly into one of the network ports on the router (not the modem port). (changing the settings is done by connecting to the IP adress through windows explorer. ur manual should be able to help you with this)

Hope this works for you

SOURCE: Easy Install wizard problem

What you can do to fix this problem is not use the install program at all.
To configure your router, in your web browser's address bar, put the IP address of your router (Another belkin router's default IP was 192.168.2.1 out of the box) and click on go. This should bring you to the routers setup, and the password by default is blank.

First, Go START | RUN... and type CMD.
When black windows apears, type ipconfig and write down the gateway. This is the address you have to use on your browser. The router will most probaly ask a login and password. Try admin for login and password. It change form manuf. to manuf. Search your Manual for Default Password.

The router installs fine on one lap but I still can't connect my other laptop

your first option is to go to http://192.168.0.1 Here Select admin from the drop down menu and leave the password field Blank.

Once the page loads youll see a series of options. this is the routers linux interface section. you will see D-link on the top left.

Select the first option Install router.
the steps would be as follows.

Step 1.
Insert the Router Setup Wizard CD in the CD-ROM drive. follow The step by step instructions. Once you done this And i believe you have already. see step 2

Step 2.
go to http://192.168.0.1 Here
Select the Option
Setup on the Top > Internet is on the left side.
Under the Internet connection Wizard Hit the Setup Wizard button.

Step 3.
Now on the Setup page Same place where the setup Wizaed is. just below their is another option called Wireless Security Setup Wizard.
Press the Launch Wireless Security Setup Wizard Button.
Read the 3 steps then click the next button to continue.
Steps for step 3.
1. Enter a SSid this will be the network name you see when you want to connect to your own network. example.. MyHome
2. Select your security option then click next. (For simplicity chose WEP)
3. click apply.and let the router reboot.

when it comes back online you should see your network you just setup. our example was MyHome.
If you are new to router setup. use the Wep security called Good on your routers security WEP. and just write the key it gives you down. this is the code you need to connect your devices and is considered ok for a simple home network.

I purchased a d-link device (model:dir-615) and i can't get it to install i am toddler in computer working

first you need to plug in your router to the internet with the ethernet cord from your modem once you have done this reset your modem by unplugging it or pressing reset button. Make sure your modem has completely rebooted, Then with another ethernet cord connect your router to your comp then turn on your router. Now once your router has completely booted up type http://192.168.0.1 into your web browser and hit enter. A login screen will appear and the default login is just admin, leave the password black. Now once you have done this there should be a link for setup wizard or it might be "wireless set up wizard". Click on that and follow the instructions. the only part you might be unsure of is the part where it asks you what type of interenet you have I do not know what you have but the large majority are dynamic and during setup it should be the default setting. After the setup is done you should be good to go GL

An error occurs during installation

The CD Setup wizard will fail to complete the installation or sometimes fail to run at all because antivirus, anti-spyware or PC firewall is blocking the installation process.

To ensure a successful installation from the CD Setup Wizard, make sure all security tools are temporarily disabled before the installation begins. Enable back the antivirus, anti-spyware or software firewall once the installation is completed.

NOTE: If setup still fails to complete, check that you have selected the correct operating system in the setup options. You may also try restarting the computer and reinstalling from the CD if the setup fails to complete the first time. If all else fails, try searching for your device model at http://www.linksysbycisco.com/US/en/support/ and clicking on Get Downloads to download the latest firmware.

Smart Wizard for WGT624

The Smart Wizard is on the CD, but the web setup is built into the router. There are 4 versions of the software, so click on the following link http://kb.netgear.com/app/products/family/a_id/1297
and select the version you have (it's on the label on the router), then click on the Documentation tab and grab the Setup (manual setup) instructions.
