We haven't taken it in to a shop yet, we are afraid it could be a transmission issue.

Tanya, your car is a manual and therefore has a gearbox and not an auto transmission, if it was going into gear before the reservoir became empty then it is highly unlikely that the gearbox is the issue.
The hydraulic system is a closed system so if the reservoir was empty then there has to be a fluid leak somewhere, most likely on the master cylinder or the slave cylinder. If the leak is bad no amount of bleeding will get the pressure up enough for the clutch to engage when u press the pedal.
You need to have a mechanic look at the vehicle, but if it is a hydraulic issue it certainly wont be overly expensive to repair.
Hope I have helped.

Regards
Brad

Thank you. We have ruled out the Slave cylinder, and are working our way through the hose now. Still haven't identified any leaks yet

If a manual clutch , adjust the free play at the clutch fork around 1/8 inch. if hydraulic top up fluid or bleed out air.

Manual transmission wont go in gear

You have a clutch slave cylinder failure and the reservoir is empty. Replace the slave cylinder and bleed the air of the system after refilling the reservoir.

Why is my clutch sticking to the floor and why won't it shift into gear when the car is on?

Ok Matt,I got you covered, when your clutch master cylinder goes empty, your clutch slave is leaking and not holding pressure, you can fill reservoir and bleed to get you home,I've did it in my 85 nissan 720 4x4 before, you can have someone pump clutch pedal a few times and hold to floor and you open bleeder valve at slave cylinder till air is gone, just don't let resevoir get low. Here is a link to bleeding, your slave cylinder is bolted to side of transmission with 2 bolts.Be careful and don't strip bleeder screw, you can get part at Autozone, also get dot 3 brake fluid, this autozone iis not showing a guide to replace, here's one from a 85 nissan, very similar.

Hi, you probably have air in the hydraulic line. Check the clutch hydraulic reservoir (next to the brake reservoir)--is it empty? If yes, refill and look for a leak. Repair the leak and bleed the system to restore pedal pressure. If you need instruction for replacing components or bleeding, please let me know.

How does the clutch pedal feel? Check the clutch master cylinder resevoir and be sure it is full on fluid...but if it's empty the system will have to be bled out and should check for leaks...Does it go into gear with the engine off?

ok every time you open the clutch resevoir you have to bleed the slave ..next hold down the clutch to the floor open the bleeder screw 10 mm bolt and then close it and pick the pedal up off the floor if your clutch is not right the pressure plate is failing most likely on mitstu stuff ...bleed first ..

My Clutch won't engage into gear. Need advice!

Did you check the clutch reservoir under the hood mounted on the firewall, driver side? Make sure level is up where it should be. If it's real low, you may have to bleed the system to get the air out. If you need to add fluid, use brake fluid.

Tdi clutch pedal pushed all the way down but hard to shift gears

Check your clutch fluid level, sometimes a seperate reservoir (drivers side on firewall), some clutch systems take fluid from the brake system (check brake fluid). If thats ok then the clutch slave may be failing.
If the clutch fluid is low refill it and check for leaks (or just wait till the symptom comes back). If it's happens often then theres a leak in the line or the slave somewhere.
