My computer randomly disconnects after a few hours.

The only way to reconnect is by resetting (unplugging) the router. Why does this happen and how do I fix it?

I just reset my dell computer back to factory setting. How do I now reset up for internet connection. My provider is verizon and I am using internet explorer

You want to reset your internet connection???
If yes then follow the given steps....

Step 1

Turn the modem so that the back of it is facing you. Locate the power supply cord connected to the back of the device.
Step 2

Gently unplug the power supply cord and leave it unplugged for about 10 seconds. If you also have a router connected to the modem, disconnect the power cord of the router as well.
Step 3

After about 10 seconds reconnect the DSL modem power cord. Wait for the status lights on the front of the unit to come on. They may blink at first before turning solid green, or they may first illuminate as orange, then turn green, depending on the modem model. The "Internet" and "Incoming" lights may continue to flicker, this is normal operation for modems.
Step 4

After the modem is reset, reconnect the router power supply if you have a router. Wait a few minutes before resuming normal Internet use.

Status light does not come on. internet was disconnected for a few days. not sure how to reset router without messing computer up

To reset any router all you need to do is unplug power for at least 30 seconds. Everything should fix itself automatically when it comes to reconnecting your computer to the internet.

My Belkin n1 router disconnects from telstra every 2 hours - exac

This is a known problem with the Belkin N1 Vision Modem Router. The router keeps time by connecting to a Simple Network Time Protocol (SNTP) server every 2 hours. The solution is to go to www.belkin.com and download and install the pre-release firmware which is supposed to fix "A problem where the router could drop some connections on 2-hour intervals" among other things.

Computer says a network cable is disconnected.

Sounds like a loose connection in your PC. Check to see if cable seats firmly and if it wiggles excessively when inserted.

Wirless going down randomly

Hello ajestrella,

If your connection is a DSL, I think you need a "Micro Filter" to be connected to your phone lines. This will eliminate the disconnection or unwanted signals that causes you network to go off or disconnected. You can request this device from your telephone company.

Usr8054 router losses connection

What you can do to this problem is reflash the firmware of this router, then you need to reset the router by pressing the reset button for 15 seconds and after that reconfigure the settimgs of the router and observe if you still have the problem , hopefully that will fix the issue of your router...

I just upgraded from firmware version 1.01.14 to 1.01.22 and I have the same problem, the router just keeps resetting itself. I think the solution is to go back to the old firmware, but I haven't been able to find a copy yet, Once I find firmware version 1.01.14 for the WRT54GX2 router. I will let you know if this is the solution... :)

Restarting,

Hi Brightside
A couple of things you could try.
1) Switch the router off at the mains power socket or disconnect it. Then leave it off for 5 minutes before reconnecting it. This can sometimes reset things and may clear the problem.
2) Make sure that the connections to and from the router are secure. Unplug them and plug them back in again.
3) Make sure that the telephone line is not faulty and has not developed an internittent adsl connection. You may need the phone company to test it for you.
4) Sometimes connection cables can pick up noise from other equipment, especially if in close proximity to mains wiring. This can cause problems. Try moving the connection cables to a different position. Sometimes only a few inches is enough. Laptop power units for exmple, can be a real source of noise.
Good luck

Random Disconnection and WLan indicator lights

Saw this on another post for this router: "in the DHCP configuration on LAN menu. the lease time was set to 72 hours (3 days) i change it to 720 hours, cos that was the most it would allow... so hopefully that would fix it. " maybe you're having the same problem. another usefull thing to do is to update the firmware from the D-link site. some stability issues such as this should be fixed by a firmware update. post what happened goo luck ;]
