I think it is a left handed thread on those.

It just turns, feels like it is turning the engine, the bolt threads must be stuck. The trimmer head was really hot when I tried to loosen it.

I asked how to replace the chain on a McCulloch Mac 110. The answer I got was remove bolts on cover. NO VISIBLE BOLTS!

that's a good old McCulloch 110 chainsaw... and
YOUR picture shows the NUT ... (also the one directly above)
Big as LIFE & twice as natural.

Every TREE-MAN I've ever known had the BAR wrench
BEFORE they climbed a tree... (+see below)

Mine are Stihl... 020.

Before that I had a baby SEARS... (really a Homelite).

RIGHT there in he picture you took...
Directly in line with the slot in the chain BAR is one "NUT"

AND an equal sized NUT on the end of the HANDLE

Get the book... or hire out the job if you are UNSURE... That saw is quite precious... simple & valuable.

Seriously!!

The line that I'm looking for came as stock supplied when I bought the trimmer.I can't believe that Bolens doesn't have a scource for replacement line. Help. Gene

Genuine MTD 791 181460B Reel Line Assy McCulloch Ryobi Troy Bilt Bolens OEM
Reel and Line Assembly
Bolens String Trimmer Spool 791 153577B

the spools come with line already installed, they are all for bolens, line is generic, you buy your own line, there are 2 different sizes, and a bunch of types, like round or star, you buy generic line because bolens wont make any money if they sold "BOLENS" line.

How do you thraed the line on to the strimmer

Take a length of about 6 foot of line, kink it in the middle and pass this through the hole in the spool. Wind the two lengths of line around the spool in their own divisions and in the same direction. The direction of wind is embossed in the reel and the line should be wound tightly and held all the while. When you have about 6-8 inches left in your hand, bring the cover up to the spool and carefully pass the two ends of the line through the holes, push the cover all the way over while pulling on the two pieces of line and ensuring that the lines stay on their own side of the division on the spool. Fit and tighten the bump nut and trim the lines to just about the cut-off blade.
The lines should trail out of the holes in the direction of the machine's rotation. Try cut with the tip of the line as much as possible. Cutting nearer the drum flexes the line and will lead to early breaking of the lines. Run the motor at a constant speed and rather move the cutting head in and out of the weeds to affect a deeper cut

I'm looking for a 8"

The part number you are looking for are:

203 476 . . . HUB, spool
203 544 . . . NUT, hub spool

Aks the sales rep at your nearest welding supply shop to order them for you. If you have a Praxair store go to them.

Price is around 20-30 bucks for both.
