Question about Kenmore Dehumidifiers
I have a Kenmore dehumidifier, 580-52450200. It runs for about 5 minutes then shuts down. If I turn it off for a few minutes, it will turn back on and after about five minutes, shut down. Both the fan and compressor are affected. I removed the cover and vacuumed it very well, including the humidity sensor. I ran it without the cover, and it stayed on and seemed to work fine. I put the cover back on, and the problem returned. Water collects in the bucket fine, the suction line is cold, the liquid line is hot. Not sure what's telling it to shut down. Your help is appreciated.

Try cleaning out the air filter using cold water. I did not even know the unit had one until I had the same problem. Pull out the bucket. The filter is located where the front top edge of the bucket would be located if it were in the instrument. Remove it by pulling straight down. It may be taped to the instrument for shipping purposes. According to the manual, this should be done every month. I have had the machine since Katrina and this is the first time I have had a problem. Hope this helps.

It is more than likely the compressor is not running, only the fan.
It seams that the humidity sensor is flaky on these units. You can,
operate the unit, by opening up the dehumidifier and unplug the sensor from the main board. The unit will cycle on and off and remove the water from the air.....good luck

It sounds like an issue with the control bord. This dehumidifier should have a 5 year warranty through LG. You will need to have this serviced. If it is under warranty by LG they will either refer you to a local repair shop and they will pay for the repair or they will replace it if you do not have a repair shop in your area. Call them and explain the problem to them. Make sure that you have your reciept. Here is the contact information for LG:
