You need to do a "lamp time reset" after you change the bulb. If you have the owners manual--it should help you to do this. If not--post the brand and model # here.

SOURCE: sony projection lamp is nearing end of life

Here is a link to a website that sells the replacement lamp for $99 dollars. http://electrified.com/Catalog/Items/?CampaignID=Dealtime&ItemID=36414

There might be a local store in your area that carries replacement lamps but probably will not have yours in stock and would have to order it. After you replace the lamp you will need to reset the lamp timer for your TV using the lamp replacement option on the TV general settings menu.

On screen message "lamp life over, error!!, which

Hello John:
If you replace the DLP lamp out of your Zenith or LG, you will need to reset the counter...otherwise you may get an annoying reminder every few days if you're surpassed the predetermined hour mark.

To Reset:

Ensure the TV is powered on.

1) Press and HOLD the MENU button on the TV
2) Press and HOLD the MENU button on your REMOTE
(hold both these until the service menu pops up 5-10 secs max.)
3) Let go of the REMOTE button first, then release the button on the TV
4) Press and HOLD the ENTER (or OK) button on the TV
5) Press and HOLD the MUTE button on the REMOTE
(hold both until the LAMP LIFE HOURS appears on the screen)
6) Let go of the REMOTE button first, then release the button on the TV
We suggest writing your lamp hours on a piece of masking tape and taping it to the back the TV for future reference.
7) To reset the lamp counter, press SELECT (or the button in the middle of the direction arrow buttons). Hit SELECT a second time to confirm clearing the lamp counter

For certain models, you might have to tweak these steps slightly...

Replaced the lamp on my sony tv but it still says the lamp is nearing the end of its life when I turn the tv on....whats up??

Hello.
Lamp timer have to be reset in service menu of your TV. Without resetting it you will have this message every time you turn TV on.
I can not provide you with directions how to do it - it's forbidden by Sony for me to give information like this to the customer, because without proper training you can easy change some settings by accident that would not be restorative after all and it would cost you pretty penny to replace main board that have all memory settings.
I would advise call any local TV repair and ask them to show up and reset timer (shouldn't cost you too much, they don't need to open up TV or anything like it). Or search internet for specific information (but do it on your own risk).
Regards.
Russ.

Yes XL2400 is correct number. Replace Lamp message is a timed message that will reset and turn off if you unplug TV when lamp is removed and replaced.

Still getting "Projection lamp is nearing end of life"

KDF46E2000 - Change Lamp Warning - Reset

Bulb is most likely OK. Original bulb in Sony TV is Philips, label on bulb usually says Philips. Sony don't make bulbs. Sony Cost is usually 1.5 times other sources. Many shopping cart operations sell condemned, reject or poor quality electronic service items because cost of return and fooling with them is excessive. This is obvious and widespread with convergence ICs and other parts.

Lamp timer needs reset. This is usually an automatic function. TV detects Increased lamp current from previous failed bulb or weak bulb condition and resets automatically. TV must be unplugged for lamp replacement for this to work. Occasionally it must be reset manually, as below:

1. TV must be in standby mode. (Power off).
2. Press the following buttons on the Remote Commander within a
second of each other:
DISPLAY Channel 5 Volume + POWER .1. Access Service Adjustment Mode and select the Service Menu that
contains the Category with the Adjustment Item you want to change.
2. To change the Category, press 2 or 5 on the Remote Commander.
Note: Pressing 2 or 5 only changes the categories within the
Service Menu displayed. To change a Category on one of the other
Service Menus, press the JUMP button until the correct Service
Menu is displayed.
3. To change the Adjustment Item, press 1 or 4 on the Remote
Commander.
4. To change the Data Value, press 3 or 6 on the Remote
Commander.
Note: To go back to the last saved Data Value, press 0 then ENT
on the Remote Commander to read the memory.
5. To save the changes, press MUTING then ENT to write into
memory.
6. To exit service mode, turn the power off by pressing POWER .
Wait 2 minutes before restarting the set to allow the fans to
completely shut down or the Service Menu will appear on the screen.
