Question about GE PTS25LHP Top Freezer Refrigerator
Frezer/Fridge intermitently goes to defrost mode and takes hours to (ice cube tray melted about one inch of water in it)come back on. We reset by unpluging 10 days ago and worked fine and normal but then it happened again

We had a service tech service our fridge for the same problem. Although the ice that was dispensed was not as fine as crushed ice, mainly chunks. In any case, he said this is a known problem and is typically resolved by ensuring the freezer temp is not set at the maximum setting. Ours is currently now set at 3 bars and is producing cubes. Not sure if reducing the temp was the ultimate fix as he also replaced the ice maker.

There is no forced defrost entry for your refrig. Yours has a ADC board in the upper right corner of the control area in the refrig section. The only way to initate defrost is jump the terminals on the board. Look at the wiring diagram closely before making the jump. The board energizes the heater thru the neutral side so make sure you dont jump line to this. I believe you jump L2 to Def
