Question about Zodiac Jandy AquaPure Ei up to 35k 120/240v Hard-wired

1 Answer

System will not start up after a winter's rest!

We have a Jandy AquaPure35 (in-ground pool) that we are trying to turn back on after its winter rest. It is direct wired (240v) to our pump and during the winter the circulation light would always shine when the pump was running. Now when we connect the wiring to the electrode the light goes out and nothing is indicated on the readout. The water temperature is 74 degrees and there is ample salt content in the pool. Last year we had to replace the power supply and wonder if this is the problem again or could the electrode cell be bad ? Both fuses on the power supply are good and the flow light goes out only when you make the last connection -- no matter what order you connect the wires.

On page 41 of the manual, a no-display indication can be related to a loose ribbon cable (check the cable is fully inserted into the connector), or a loose or bad connection at the white connector between the transformer and the PC board ("Check connector at white plug to insure proper connection. If burnt connector contact authorized service representative.")

As you operated the pool during the winter, did you remove the sensor and replace it with an optional spool piece, or did you leave the sensor in operation and perhaps subject it to freezing? The sensor can be permanently damaged if it was subjected to freezing.
Try removing the cell and cleaning it.

First I would go through and check all of the connections. If they are OK, and as this occurs after you make the connection to the electrode, I can't help to wonder if the electrode is clogged or damaged beyond repair.

The correct method for winterizing is section 6.5, on page 40, of your manual.

Testimonial: "Dennis: We removed and cleaned the electrode for winter storage; all connections are good. Yet no reading of any kind is shown when powered up. Also, cleaned all electrode connections! I think that I may have a bad TS Control PCB assembly, or the Power Supply is out. Don't know how to determine which?"

It's hard to say, could be those two, or the wiring gone bad, or the electrode. At this point I think you will have to call your dealer and see what they say. (If you have no dealer, you can call Jandy tec services at (707) 776-8200 extension 260, and see what they say.

Jandy aqualink rs4: pool has been winterized with the spa left on. when switched from service mode into auto mode system switches back from spa into pool mode (motorized valve switches back to pool mode)....

the only thing you can do since the jandy does not have a "winter" mode is switch the valves off. Once you have the valves in spa mode, there should be a toggle switch on the valve actuators. You can set the switches to the middle position and that will lock them in that position. You will probably have to re-winterize the pool lines.

Understanding how to use spa with freeze protection on

freeze protection will always be on. when you're done using the spa just push the heater/spa button. it will turn off. when ever the air temp drops below 37-39 degrees the air sensor will tell the system the it's getting cold and it will kick on the pump. you can change the it under settings menu if you want other pumps to come besides the filter pump
