SOURCE: toaster lever wont stay down

Open the toaster up and look inside by the levers, there should be a little piece that will keep the lever down, if this is missing, then you may need to replace the toaster, if not, then the little piece may be stuck, you can use the following to try and loosen it up,
1. WD-40

Waring pro toaster oven: the toaster part spring would not stay down. How to repair?

Most of the time this problem is caused by a build-up of toast crumbs in the latch mechanism. Unplug the toaster oven and follow the instruction manual directions for cleaning the toaster section. Try cycling the toaster lever up and down a few times, then clean out the crumb tray again. If that doesn't solve the problem, you'll have to look for an access to the latch mechanism to clean it out and perhaps gently straighten the latch hook if needed. Note: these are generic directions for all such toasters. I can't be more specific without knowing which model in the Waring Pro line you have.

Toaster wont stay down

Just fixed my Breville CT20. Cleaned the contacts, there were no impeding crumbs so I tested again and still wouldn't stay locked. I finally replaced the 470uf 16v capacitor on the control board just below the electromagnet and wow, works like a brand new toaster! I got lucky, saving bits and pieces of old circuits sometimes pays off.

Waring TCO650 toaster oven - how to turn off or down the beeping

I found it! In the manual that came with the toaster (and not the one online), I found the following instructions:

1. To turn the indicator beep OFF: Press both [TOAST] and [BAGEL] keys and hold for 5 seconds.
2. to turn the indicator beep ON: Repeat the above process.

Note - if you lose power or unplug the unit, the beep comes back, so keep these instructions handy. :)

At the moment I am looking for the problem in m,y Tefal. The biggest problem seems to be sorting out how to pull it apart. I have sfound that the whole carriage must be pulled out the back of the toaster. About 10 T10 screws to be removed from the base then there are are a couple more philips screws to remove after the back is off, then the handles that you press down to allow the bread to drop mus t be released. There are plastic pieces that hold in the metal tip on the handles. They are located inside the body and are accessewd from the slot that the handle moves in. I haven't yet located the release clips for the high lift handles. Once I have found them I may be able to access the mechanisms. If this doesn't help enough then please ask for more information as I shall have found my way inside by then

Our toaster stopped working a little while ago, but it is outside the (presumably) one year warranty period. It's a 4 slice, soft touch black toaster, cost about £75, I think it is this model. It only...

remove from the electricity supply
remove crumb tray,
remove bottom 4 os 6 screws.
at the bottom of the toaster there is what liooks like a flat fish hook that engages with the handle when you push the handle down to start toasting. clean around this and try to get it to engage when you push the handle down, it wont stay down unless the electricity is connected but dont plug it in as you will probably kill your self!!
put it back together abd try it
if it does not work 4 slice toaster from Tesco £9.99

Russell Hobbs RH2T toaster bread won't stay down w/o hold handle

Hi, most new toaster have a selenoid that hold down the handle while toasting then release when done so a spring bring the toast up. Possible problem with the selenoid, the electronic circuit that controls it or the plate that the selenoid holds. When you lower the handle you close the contacts of the AC line inside the toaster so if the handle is raised there is no power.

Toaster does not stay held down to toast wct 708

there is a "contact switch" that when there is power in the system, it stays down. If hte contact switch is bad, it releases and will not stay down. COntact switch needs to be replaced, unfortuantely I have the same problem and can't seem to get the part.
