Hi, there is a very easy soln. to your problem.
When the camera is in shooting mode, just click the multi-selector( the round thing surrounding the OK key). the flash menu will be displayed in the screen. Either choose the auto flash(no.1) or anytimeflash(no.4) mode. the blinking hand will be gone and you will once again have superb photos. relax and enjoy.

SOURCE: Camera will not take pictures
Check the Lens switch for A/M (auto/Manual focus), also check the front bottom right of camera, there is a switch, set it to AF also. Hope that helps

Try going onto the menu and resetting the camera, this will not delete your images,
Your battery may be dead,
Most likely is that it is finding it hard to autofocus try it on manual then see what happens,
you may be pressing to button to quickly for the camera to autofocus,
open your apeture right up then try and also open your exposure up to it may be too dark to take the picture on auto function.

SOURCE: camera won't snap a picture.
Your Card needs to be formatted to do this:
Place the card in the camera.
There are 2 buttons on the D70 that say "Format".
They are both in red.
One on the top right button of the camera and the other is to the left of the viewfinder.
Press them at the same time for 3 seconds.
The lcd will blink "For".
Press the 2 buttons again.
