Question about Janome Sewing Machines
The feed dogs and the presser foot have to work together in order for the fabric to move and be sewn. make sure the feed dogs are in the up position, you should be able to see them and feel them with your finger. the presser foot holds the fabric against the feed dogs, so the feed dogs can do there job of moving the fabric. if you have a manual look for the feed dog lever and see if it's in the up position and if not move it in the up position.
if that doesn't help then take the machine back to the store and tell them what the machine is not moving the fabric like it should and see what they say.
it might be a good idea just to get another machine.

You can download some partial manuals from the Janome site.
This is for the Janome D'cor Excel Pro 5124:
Which should be similar to the ohter model number you mention.
Hope this helps!

Try moving the stitch length dial to 4 or 5 - check the manual. You may have it in the position for very close together sewing. I had to do a lot of trying with my 4795 to get it to work right. I found that very thin thread, polyester kind, broke at the needle after a couple of stitches. I switched to coats & clarks thread and a Singer ball point needle and it works fine. Be sure your needle is inserted with the flat top toward the back of the machine. Good luck!
