I assume it worked properly before. Flotec makes a lot of different pumps so I can only guess. This can be caused by excessive back pressure. If this is on an extension cord be sure it is large enough in wire gauge. if it is a CGFI breaker you have an electrical problem, something is leaking electrical energy.

I have a pressure switch tc2151 that I want to replace as the original was acting up. Now the new one pops the breaker. we have switched the wires around and nothing. please help

The wiring could be wrong. Make sure the two pump leads are one on each side of the switch and the same with the black and white power leads. They should also be opposite each other on the switch. If you look at it from left to right, it should be white (neutral), motor lead, motor lead, black power (hot). Make sure that the switch is set right for how much power your putting to it. If your power is 230 volts ac, make sure the switch is set for that much voltage. If it's 115 volts ac, make sure the switch is set for that. Another problem could be the motor. If its having a hard time starting up, that could blow the breaker. Motors use up to 10 times their operating amps when they start up. Let me know if this helps.

I replaced a one horse flotec sprinkler pump with a 1 1/2 horse pump. the one horse was wired at 115 volt/ 20 amp 12 gauge wire. the new pump is blowing the breaker.any suggestions ?

Your best solution would be to convert the circuit over to 230V assuming only the pump is on the breaker. Changing it to 230V will cut the amp draw in half and allow for the 12AWG wire to carry the load. You could increase the breaker rating but the wire is to small for the load and keeping it will lead to future problems if you leave the circuit as 115VAC.

Pump appears to be frozen or locked up. It started blowing the circuit breaker. At first I thought it was the charging capacitor so I replaced that but the pump is still popping the breaker. I...

I am not familiar with Flotec pumps, Is it easy to disengage pump from motor to see if it is the motor? you might also check for a bad circuit breaker by disconnecting load wires at the breaker. If you are not qualified call an electrician. he will help you pinpoint the problem further. be safe Do not take electricity and moving parts lightly

I Noticed that there was dirt in the sub pump system, I took it apart got it working, bit for some reason it wont **** up the water? I was wondering if you could tell me why? thanks

Maybe you installed the check valve upside down and the water will not pass through a check valve that is facing down instead of up. If you took the bottom strainer plate off the pump and cleaned it out in there, the pump impeller may have stipped its splines and consequently only the shaft turns. Usually I find small stones, string wood chips etc. that stop the pump. The breaker should pop if it is the proper amperage, when stopprd up with debris. Good luck. Hope this helps you solve your problem. Please post to fixya.com if it does, so I get the credit for the solve. Let me know if you do need more advice. I will be happy to give you the whole lowdow on sumps if you wish.

I have a flotec fp512. It keeps loosing its prime in about 1 1/2 - 2 hours. after I shut the power off . its drawing from a creek about 20 feet away . there is a new foot valve at the end of the draw...

If the new foot valve is operting properly, then you must have a suction leak. If you can't find anything in the piping, then carefully re-inspect the check valve and where it attaches to the piping. If you still don't see anything, It is possible the pump seal is beginning to leak slightly when it's off, allowing air to enter the system. You could add another check valve near the pump, but it isn't necessary if all is working.

Hi,
The motor for your well pump is going bad and it is pulling too much current on the start up ...this is burning up the pressure switches and is tripping your breaker..
It may be cheaper to replace the whole pump then to just replace the motor...

Keep poping the breaker on instllation

Check your wiring for short circuits. If you turn the switch on and it pops it may be in the switch box or up in the fan box. Also make sure the fan blades spin freely. A motor overload or short circuit would be the only reason for the breaker tripping immediately.

No electrical power

You must find the reason the main breaker is popping ...

I'd start by unplugging everything and remove all breakers. Turn the main on ... does it pop? If it pops here look between the breaker panel and the end of your cord. Turn the power off - reinstall the first breaker - turn power back on. What happens ... keep doing this until the main or individual breaker pops - investigate that circuit to find your short.

If you get all breakers back in with out popping anything ... start plugging stuff back in. Something is shorting somewhere.

Let me know what you find please.

thanks
