Question about Washing Machines

Open Question

Why does my GE Front Loader WCVH6800 hum and not start the rinse cycle?

Machine suddenly will not go past the first rinse cycle. The rinse light comes on the display and the machine appears to suddenly get stuck. There is a hummm coming from the back of the machine where the water supply hoses go into the machine. Diagnostic mode yielded error code E22. This machine doe snot have a t08 or t09 test to verify the hot and cold valves.I have not performed any of the other diagnostic tests since I was unsure which ones to test. Hoses were removed and water inlets are clear of any debris. Water pressure is good. Machine can be put into drain and spin mode and empties and spins out with no problems. Starting the cycles for each water temperature seems to function normally. I started a new load and selected Hot, then warm, then cold as the initial wash temperature and the machine fills properly and completes the wash cycle successfully. Once the "Rinse" cycle is illuminated on the control panel the machine hits a roadblock and just stops with the hummm eminating from the back of the machine and just sits there. I am unsure of what to repair here as i do not believe the fill valves are broken since the machine does fill for the intial wash cycle. am I wrong? Can someone point me in a direction as to what mightbe causing this and what I need to replace?? Does anyone have a service manual or diagram showing how to service the machine and take it apart properly to access the components I need to gain access to? I have a family of five with no washer right now so any help is greatly appreciated soon :-) Thank you sooooo much in advance!!

I have a GE front loader washer and on the rinse cycle it stops and counts down.

Most washers now have a cold rinse only per government requirements. If you have the cold half of the inlet valve bad or sometimes blocked with sediment it will not fill for the rinse cycle causing the problem you have. The inlet valve is the part your house hoses hook to on the back of the machine.

MY GE front loader washer won't fill with water or spin. I hear a hum when I turn it on and it sounds as if it's about to start a cycle but nothing happens.

It sounds as if your water valve is either clogged or the solenoid is stuck and not letting any water in. Here is a checklist of things you should do to help isolate the problem:
1) check to make sure the water is on
2) turn the water off and remove the water lines and verify that both the lines and the screens on the valve are clear of debris, calcium, etc.
3) take the top off the machine where you can actually see the valve, turn the machine on and see if the vavle is the humming noise that you are hearing. If so and no water is coming out then the valve is bad.

When my machine gets to its rinse cycle it works for about 30 seconds and then all the lights start flashing and it stops working

You most likely have a faulty cold inlet valve. When the machine gets into the rinse cycle, it needs to fill up with cold water.

Depending on whether you have a top loader or front loader, there may be a seperate valve for the rinse water intake on a front loader.

Let me know the make and model of your machine and I can help you identify and replace the inlet valve.

Ge front load washer won't go into rinse cycle.

Check the cold water hose. My brand new machine had this behavior until I discovered a kink in the cold water hose - works great now.

When your rinse cycle does not work it is your outlet filter that is clogged. If this is a front loader the small door is in the bottom front side of machine. Be prepared for some water to come out when u open the door. Unscrew and clean out filter and refit.
