Question about Brother PE-500 Embroidery Machine

1 Answer

What do i do? My pe500 worked fine for a month or so then started getting tangled and jamming!!!

So far i've changed the needle, rethreaded, and cleaned about 10 times! I read my manual and followed all the steps to try to fix the problem and i don't know what else to do!

1. REPLACE YOUR NEEDLE WITH THE RIGHT NEEDLE.
2. THE BOBBIN THREAD MUST HAVE THE TENSION SET JUST SO WHEN YOU HANG IT FROM YOUR FINGER AND BOUNCE IT THAT IT WILL EXTEND SLIGHTLY.
3. TAKE THE BOBBIN CARRIER OUT AND PUT ONE DROP OF SEWING OIL ON THE RACE THAT THE CARRIER SITS ON.
4. PUT THE BOBBIN BACK IN THE CARRIER AND MAKE SURE IT IS ROTATING THE RIGHT DIRECTION AND GOING THROUGH THE TENSION SPRING.
5. CAREFULLY LOAD YOUR UPPER THREAD WHILE THE FOOT IS UP AND MONITOR ANY SNAGS IF THERE ARE ANY. SET YOUR UPPER TENSION TO 3 TO BEGIN WITH. YOU CAN ADJUST THIS NUMBER ON AN OLD SCRAP WHILE SEWING. IF THERE ARE PROBLEMS YOU MAY WANT TO REPLACE YOUR THREAD WITH GOOD QUALITY THREAD. IF YOUR THREAD IS FUZZY IT MAY BE GETTING STUCK IN THE NEEDLE HOLE.

SOURCE: my needle won't pick up the bobbin thread

My sewing machine is a Brother LS1217, well actually it is my son's, and he uses it very seldom. I went over to put in a new needle and I cleaned it top and bottom, put in a new bobbin, and a new needle and the needle won't pick up the bottom thread. What am I doing wrong? Please help me!! It has to be something simple, as this is such a simple machine! roseandjimmy@yahoo.com

This happened to me and I discovered that my presser foot was stuck up. (LOL) I was using embroidery and the needle was actually brushing against the raised presser foot. So, I turned machine off, removed embroidery part and checked the presser foot switch. It was not moving. Well, I put the machine on regular sewing and just turned the wheel a few times and the presser foot reset. When I went back to embroidery all was fine (and still is). so, check yours.

What is happening when I sew and 3 threads come out of the bobbin? Or when it just freezes up and I can't get the needle to go up or down?

basically the problem comes from incorrect thread tensions
the main thread responsible is the needle thread as the tension is far too loose
tighten up that tension and it makes the needle on the up stroke pull the thread around the bobbin carrier and collects the bobbin thread and pulls it up to the material
with the needle thread too loose the needle thread is wrapped around the bobbin carrier again giving you the 3 threads ( 2 needle threads and 1 bobbin thread and the tangle jams the bobbin movement

It keeps getting tangled up here the bobbin is underneath and keeps getting jammed

try changing the needle--make sure it's the correct one for the fabric
being sewed
rethread the machine ---using every thread guide
try using a different bobbin
try turning the bobbin over the other direction
clean under the needle plate and in the bobbin area for lint
also could be a timing problem and the machine would need to be
checked at a sewing machine repair shop

Why does my bobbin thread tangle around my bobbin plate

try changing the needle
Correct needle insertion is mandatory for proper use of your sewing machine.
Raise the needle bar to the highest point, then loosen the needle clamp screw to remove the old needle.
Place the new needle in the needle clamp with the flat side of the needle facing the back, (round needle, the groove in the needle should face away from the shaft).
Push the needle all the way up as far as it will go. Then tighten the needle clamp screw.

try rethreading the machine top

Needle is not picking up thread from bobbin it was working fine and just stopped sewing then I noticed the bobbin thread was not being picked up .

Check your needle, it may need to be changed (make sure you insert it flat side away from you), now totally rethread, Another thing, is your thread old, tangled? If, all of this does not fix it, take it in for professional service.

Jammed thread.

To address my needle thread tangling (horribly) in the bobbin compartment, I rethreaded the bobbin. I cleaned the bobbin and the feeder feet, I changed the bobbin and the thread. I changed the tension on the needle thread and the bobbin thread. NO FIX! Then, I changed the needle - the problem was fixed instantly. I sewed awhile and then put the original needle back in. No problem. I think perhaps that the problem is being caused by the needle getting out of alignment somehow during sewing. If you are having the same issue, try it. It can't hurt!

My sewing machine will sew for about an inch then the thread breaks and tangles. Have changed needle, rethreaded bobbin and needle. Cannot unscrew needle plate, just twists screwdrivers.

Turned out I am an idiot and had my needle in backwards, leading to the tangling. No idea why the needle plate would not unscrew, but my superhero husband got it off!
