Question about Cooktops

1 Answer

Flame in cooktop (3rd one) seems to be mostly blue with orange tips appearing here and there, but is agressive and pots almost burn with food not cooked. No way to turn down on a sealed cooktop. Is this normal for cooktop? Sears said everything looked good, but went back to an older model, still sealed GE. Same result

Does model XFG371LVQ Whirlpool stove have air adjustment for top burners?

Remove the front panel to find where the gas injectors enter the burner tubes you will see they are cut away and have a screw holding an outer ring which is adjustable, open them up more to get more air in .

You don't have the right Gas to Air ratio..... Not enough air to the burners or you are running to low of gas pressure for propane... Propane takes a smaller orfice or operate than Natural Gas.....
You should have 10" of WC for Propane operation..
You will need a manometer to check it.
The flame should be a blue color with no yellow in it. There should be air shutters right at the orfice to each burners. You will have to play with the adjustment to get the best blue flame with no yellow in the flame.... Hope this helps.....

Just put in a new Caldera LPGas cooktop the flame is yellow and putting soot on pots how can I adjust air to correct this?

you stove may have jets for natural gas rather than bottled gas the calorific value of natural gas is different to propane and the jets are larger because of this. if using bottled gas then you will get yellow flame and soot because there is too much gas to burn properly check your installation manual for procedure to change the jets for each gas

Usually this happens if something has been spilled or a pan overflowed and is partially clogging some of the burner holes. Make sure the burner holes are clear and try poking them with a sewing needle to make sure. I am assuming the flames are a nice blue color and not a lazy yellow or yellow-tipped. If there is some orange, that is usually an indication you are burning off some food and will need to be cleaned. If that doesn't appear to be the issue, then let us know and we'll dig deeper. Hello dishmama1, is this a sealed burner cooktop? If so then remove the cap and make sure all the holes are clean. Restricted burner holes can cause and issue with the flame. Also with it off make sure the area where it sits is clean and the cap sits flat. Hope this helps

Creda 4 burner, converted to LP

Your flame is perfect if it's just the very tip that is yellow or white. All burners should be adjusted this way, on highest flame.
