Question about Maytag MSD2732GR Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

My Maytag side by side (no icemaker) keeps leaking water under the freezer side front roller area. Ice is forming on the inside bottom of the freezer under the bottom basket. I've vacummed underneath and checked the defrost pan. It is always dry. Any suggestions would be greatly appeciated.

OK, You need to unplug for a hour or so. Remove the rear panel in back of freezer to expose the evaporator coils. At the bottom of the evaporator there is a tray that catches the defrost water to take it through the back and down to the condensate tray located near compressor and condenser fan. Most likely you have ice or something trapped in that drain beginning in the freezer. I have heard some people turn the freezer temperatures so cold ice will form before the water can drain. If you still have problem contact me. If this helped vote or rate me. Thanks Sea Breeze

Hello, If it is a Maytag Fridge(Whirlpool) with French doors and a pull out lower freezer drawer (my fridge is from 2010), there is an upgrade for them for the defrost drain. I had the same problem and Maytag sent out a new upgrade part right away and received within 4 working days. For me it was part # W10619951 which is part of instruction sheet W10619972 and it is called a P-Trap Drain Tube kit. You remove the old one and install this one and does not allow reverse air to come up the drain tube and create ice in the freezer. You have to defrost the freezer completely at the replacement install. Worked for me.

Icicle are forming around icemaker port inside of freezer compartment drips seem to come from around inmaker feed water area.

The water inlet valve on the back of the unit where the water supply comes in can have a slow leak and will cause ice to buildup and block the fill tube. Disconnect the ice maker line from the valve and watch to see if it has a slow drip. It doesn’t take much to eventually block the fill tube.

Side by side leaks out front door on freezer side

try checking the tube that water drains out , it could be plugged with crumbs or old partials of food and causing the problem, This has happened with my fridge at one time , affecting the defrost cycle of the freezer and dripping water out of the door, The tube was located under the crisper in the back of the inside of my fridge, Hope this solves your problem

Water leaking and ice in bottom shelf of freezer

Chances are you have a bad seal around the door if it's leaking from the inside which causes the ice to form as well, or if it's leaking from under the freezer you lave a bad heating element that evaporates the water collected in the pan under the freezer or you have a clogged hose that goes to the pan under the freezer which also causes the ice to form because the water has no place to go. Defrost and try to find a way to blow out the hose that goes from your freezer to the pan under the freezer and that should take care of your problem.

Water leaking from freezer compartment and ice maker not working properly

I figured it out. When the water filter gets old and plugged up, not enough water flows into the cube trays. You can fix the ice problem by replacing or just removing the filter. (The filter really isn't necessary unless your water comes from a well or some other undesirable source.) The filters cost about $40 from Sears, but you can find them on ebay for under $30 including shipping.

My side by side Maytag fridge

There shoud never be ice built up in the bottom. The problem is thatthe defrost drain water is not getting to teh pan underneath. If it were coming from the icemaker you would have a colum of ice from the icemaker area down the back wall... like a stalagtite. It still sounds like you just need to clean the tube that goies from the inside bottom of the freezer to the drain pan with a turkey baster and hot water

Ice forming on bottom of freezer section. Water leaking in from back

sounds like a drain clog in the freezer compartment above. remove the freezer rear panel and totally defrost the evaporator area, directly under the evap you see( under all taht ice) a small drain hole that has become frozen over, try defrosting with either a hair dryer( not a heat gun too much heat youl melt everything) or by pouring hot water donw the drain until you get a free flow of water down the tube. after its clear reassemble and you should be fine
