When the printer is turned on the ink cartridges of my Lexmark X75 won't reset to begin printing.

I have the printer set up and printing test sheets beautifully,but when I then go to actually print a real page, I get the error message ;
The printer cannot communicate with the computer.
Try these solutions:
-Disconnect and reconnect the USB cable
-Disconnect and reconnect the printer's power cable
-Restart your computer
Now I've done all of this 5-6 times to no avail. Each time I can get great TEST prints on paper, but no prints of pages I want.
