They sell replacement keyboards for this model on Ebay. However, from personal experience with another Dell model - sometimes the connecting cord gets pinched, and some keys go dead. On my laptop, grip it the wrong way and keys go dead. Grip it another way, and they work again. But opening it up and fastening the keyboard again, then screwing it back together also might work.

But whatever you do, check this page:
It has instructions for fixing a lot of problems on Dells, including replacing the keyboard on this one, and also replacing single keys.

I had same problem. but months later, the dead key is working again. your other option is just buy an external keyboard for twenty bucks.

as I said, my dead key is working again. So would be nice, if my inspiron would start charging the battery again!! anybody think my battery charging problem will fix itself, like my dead key problem? probably not. bestbuy said the charging problem was a motherboard issue. so I use my inspiron as a plug-in computer. for the money they quoted to send to a lab to fix, I could buy another laptop. computer companies and the retailers are not fully honest, if I can add a side note. They dont tell you how the graphics card rate. they dont tell the novice consumer difference between integrated graphics and dedicated graphics. and retailers will still sell discontinued laptops, at prices that are not bargain prices. Honestly, Im somewhat impressed by the Asus computers I see in the stores.

I use a hauppage TV receiver on my computer. I might have to re-install it, because sometimes it freezes and causes a stack-dump!

We have a Dell inspiron 1525. After it warms up the number 6 is entered continually in every window the requires typing. reboot doesnt work because we can't enter the password. If we put the laptop in...

plug an external keyboard in and see if that resolves it if it doesnt then some foriegn substance is under your 6 key and causing it to be pressed down, remove what it is under the key and it should be ok

I had the same issue, I don't know if what I did had anything to do with the fix or if it was just pure luck, I held the Fn (Function) key then hit the letter (e) a few times and it started typing. Hope this helps anyone that may experience the same problem.

When i type a-key on the keyboard then a1 appears on the screen in Dell inspiron 1525 laptop, please assist me to get resolve this problem

Most likely you have your numlock key turned on by mistake. Look on your computer and see if there is a light with a padlock and a number in the padlock. It is probably lit up. Now look for a key on your keyboard called "numlock" and press the key once. See if the light goes off. When you have the numlock key on some of the letter keys will work as numbers like a calculator. When you turn it off the keys are back to letters.

How do i get my enter button back on my inspiron 1525?

The keys just pop on and off. If the key will not snap back on, then the keyboard will most likely need replacement.
Replacement keyboards are less than $20

Certain letters are not working

When keys go faulty the entire keypad needs replacing. You can't replace individual keys. I would suggest contacting dell and ordering a new keyboard, it's an easy fix:
If you need to purchase one, I did locate: For $16
