Question about Whirlpool 25.6 cu. ft. Side-by-Side Refrigerator with In-Door-Ice Dispensing System

1 Answer

The strip of metal between the refrigerator door and freezer door (side by side)is extrememly hot. Both compartments are cooling fine--just have an issue with the hot metal strip. Fully cleaned the coils, blew out dust and the problem remains.

Should the fan that blows toward the water pan be moving all the time --- I took the cardboard off the back and noticed this small fan is not moving. Could this cause the heat problem?

Refrigerator not cooling FRS22WNC

the damper vent door between the freezer and refrigerator isn't opening to let cold air into the refrigerator compartment from the freezer side, its in the upper left corner in the refrigerator behind a grille,if its closed you wont feel cold air flowing in from the freezer sometimes you can shine a light in this area and look in the other compartment and if no light then the doors shut and this is why its not cooling the refrigerator

Inside refrigerator strip between the freezer and refrigerator

The condenser fan motor at the back near the compressor is either dirty or not running at proper speeds. Clean the coils for air flow over compressor and if the fan is not running replace the fan.

Front metal , top heating element very hot

This should be OK. There are heat strips placed behind the door frame to prevent sweating around the door frame due to the metal being cold normally without the strips. Thanks, Sea Breeze

Both Freezer door and cooling door and a metal strip were hot

That is a good thing. you want that to happen what it does is it avoids condensation to form around the doors

Samsung model # rs2630sh side by side fridge. center strip is hot

I had the same problem, and it was the condenser fan motor. I ordered mine from www.partstore.com. It was half the price of sears.
I would suggest ordering the 2 "plastic bushings" for front and back of motor. I was able to reuse mine, but for a few dollars more it's worth it.

Fridge freezer over heating and is not cooling fridge section

It is normal for the middle strip to be hot. Did you check the temp setting in the fridge section?
Also - you might check for blockage in the bottom. Excessive dirt/dog hair can block the air flow.
Good luck

Door frame around freezer door is very hot for a long time in side-by-side refrigerator/freezer

The problem you describe is caused by the hot gas pipe that runs around the cabinet, this is normal for it too get warm, the only reason it would be very hot is that for some reason the gases are not being cooled, probable cause is that the condenser is blocked with dust or fluff, depending on axact version some are located behind the plastic trim that runs below the doors and others are in the back behind the lower rear panel.
