After the analog service was dropped, most

After the analog service was dropped, most stations on my new Vizio flat screen tv say no signal. The tv is located on my boat. It is connected by an external antenna. How can I get the stations to recognize and connect to the channels?

I have a VIZIO E552VL TV hooked up to an Over the Air Antenna and want to MANUALY put in channels NOT AUTO SCAN

Not sure if your TV is digital or analog, but I think an analog TV does not have the ability to perform auto scan, so you may be able to manually input the channels. As a kid, my dad installed a rotary antenna, and as it rotated and TV pictures displayed on the screen, dad noted the specific spot on the rotary unit; and every time we turned the set on, we just pointed the arrow on the dial on the unit to where dad noted what the channel number was on the unit, and the antenna turned toward that direction, and the pictured appeared on the screen.

What specific model of JVC multi-system TV do you have? What is the signal source?

The majority of the JVC multi-system TVs that I've researched only have analog tuners (NTSC, PAL). The AV-29LX is an example of the older JVC TVs. Since most over-the-air signals are digital, you will need a digital-to-analog OTA signal converter to watch any signal from an aerial TV. If you have a cable system that has upgraded to digital cable, you will need a cable box.

Converter boxes are harder to find but there are a few remaining. Here's one for the US: http://www.amazon.com/Magnavox-DTV-Digital-Analog-Converter/dp/B0013ZKZGU .

I wish that I had better news for you.

(A few low-power stations still broadcast in the analog format. However, you have to be really close to the station or have an outdoor antenna to have a chance at receiving the signal.)

Does this product have a built in digital to analog converter?

This tv incorperates a full digital PLL tuner. It does not need a digital to analog coverter since analog signals is no longer used. All tv stations now broadcast with digital signal. It will receive local broadcast stations just connect a goood quality antenna to the tv. You will need to do a scan and the tv will store all of your local broadcasting stations within range. An outdoor antenna works best for digital signals.

I am not a cable television subscriber. Nonetheless, why can't I get my local public television station when this television set tunes in all other local television stations (local ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox...

Some flat screen tv's have two inputs, one for digital and one for analog reception. If your local public television station is analog, then you'll need a signal input on the analog input.
You might try temporarily moving the input from the digital to the analog then doing a new channel scan to see if this picks up the PBS station. You'll have to rescan again, when you move your antenna lead in back to digital.

I'm wanting to drop my satellite service. Will my projection tv pick up stations with a digital antenna?

Sorry but I've never heard of a DIGITAL ANTENNA, ALL antennas are ANALOG NOT DIGITAL, and yes you will be able to tune in some TV stations if you live close enough of TV stations that still transmit ANALOG signals, with a GOOD VHF/UHF antenna you can have good reception and viable TV time... (best of all it's FREE)

Good Luck!

I can't get a TV signal on new 22" VIZIO

If you are getting the "No Signal" message you need to connect an antenna or cable to the antenna input. You also need to go into the menu for your signal source and select ANTENNA or AIR if you are using an antenna OR CABLE if you are using cable.
NEXT YOU WILL HAVE TO SCAN IN YOUR STATIONS !! This is not like the old analog sets that plug in and run.
The instruction manual will give you precise instructions.
