Hi There should be a reset pin hole on the camera somewhere. Check the manual for the location. Then press the on button and use a paper clip to insert into the pin hole right after. This should rset the internal computer. Hope this helps.

Ceiling fan

Remove batteries from remote and press all buttons to eliminate possibility of a "stuck" button. Reinstall batteries or install new batteries and try operation. If no luck, disconnect fan power at the source, not at the fan. Reconnect power and try operation. If no luck, the receiver in the fan may have failed.

How to reset Gateway Laptops

Unplug your gateway computer, pull the battery out of you computer, Hold the power button down for 60 seconds, it might not take this long, but better safe than have to go back and do it again. Release power button, install battery, plug in ac adapter, then power on. This helps to recognize new batteries and start up problems do to new hardware installations.

Power Button Wont Work

If there is no power at all the problem could be that the Power Cord is bad or the Motherboard is bad. The guys at: http://www.generalsystemsconsulting.com can help you. They will fix it and ship it back by Fedex or UPS. Get a quote from your local computer shop then try them.

I HAVE A A22M THINKPAD THAT WILL NOT TURN ON. HELP

Thanks for using FIXYA,
well, that sounds a motherboard problem, try to do this before we go furter:
take the battery off the machine and disconnect it from power, press and hold the power button at least for 30s.
then without the battery on , just the power cable, turn it on, if that dont works you need to repair the motherboard.
Thanks and dont forget to rate this solution

Anything else just let me know

C500 Laptop won't come on power button just flashes

Have you tried attaching an external monitor when the LCD screen is disconnected from the motherboard? this connector is located under the keyboard strip – a piece of plastic just above the keyboard.
If it works, this way, then the video cable isn’t seated properly in the connector on the back of the screen. Plugging the video cable back in should fix the problem.
I don’t know how comfortable you are with taking apart laptops but I think that this information could be useful for you.

Dell e510 won't make it to post

Unplug computer, disconnect all usb/monitor/internet, open it, hold power button until green led on the inside on the motherboard turns off, pop out the BIOS battery (looks like a big watch battery and use a small flathead screwdriver to depress the spring lock on one side), plug in computer, hold power button for about 20 seconds (must reset BIOS), let up on power button, wait 10 seconds and push power button. The computer should turn on. Wait for it until activity seems stable (1 min. or so). Push powerbutton to shut off.

If this has worked you have proven that it's not the power supply (it turned on). If you purchased a non dell power supply, you might try this with the original one installed.

Go buy a new battery (CR2032 3 volt). Unplug computer, open it, hold power button until green led on the inside on the motherboard turns off, pop in new battery, plug in (you should notice the power button blinking amber again), hold power button until it stops blinking (about 20 sec....again must reset BIOS), wait 10 sec., push power button. the computer should turn on. Wait for it until activity seems stabe (1 min. or so). Push powerbutton to shut off.

Now, close case, plug in all usb/monitor/internet/etc. Power up computer. You'll get an internal floppy drive error. Push F2 (maybe F1) to get into the BIOS settings and go to "drives" and turn off the internal floppy. Save and exit. The computer should boot properly now.

This seems to be a big problem with the e510, my theory is that this one small battery is the root of most of these failures (as these computers usually fail after 1-2 years), not the power supply or the motherboard (heck, when you replace the motherboard it comes with a new one of these batteries...a several hundred dollar piece of hardware, with a $5 battery that will actually fix it).

LCD Replacement

Did the connector from the replacement LCD inverter fit in the socket of the motherboard? When you were replacing the LCD, did you have the battery out of the unit? And finally, have you attempted to start the laptop with the power cord in, but the battery out? I'm not familiar with the mx6931, but can you press the power on button without the trim piece that sits above the keyboard?
