2 things usually cause this kind of behaviour
1-the dvd+r have been burnt at a high speed
2-the dvd player itself is a bit old
when you burn your dvd+R always burn them at a lower speed lowest if possible it'll take longer but it's well worth it and you wouldn't have a problem playing them back
if it does nothing when you push the standby button to make it play the most common problem is the power standby sw is bad. do you know how to use a miltimeter if so test the voltage through the swithc when you press the button.
Bad caps in the power supply is causing this. C17 (10v,470uf), C17,c14 (10v,1000uf) and C18 (10v,470uf). Replace with same capacitance values but 25 volt rating 85 C. Just fixed mine half hour ago works great.
