Question about Computers & Internet
So I moved to Spain a while back in the summer (used to live in the Dominican Republic. I just got to setting up my desktop pc. I used a universal adapter that plugs into a european outlet. Now, I checked my PC, it said 125v-240v, I thought it would be ok to plug it with an adapter, as I had done with my tv. The chord that connected the PC to the socket said 125v, but i searched the internet and it said it did not matter. So I plug in my PC, I hear a large Pop, I can smell something burning, and I turn to see smoke emitting from my PC. Is the hard drive okay, I have a lot pictures and videos in there.

I believe that your computer main power supply has fried. They do this from time to time. I have gone through a few over the years. You are going to have to remove the power supply from the tower. It is a fairly simple job. Then you are going to have to take the supply with you to an electronic/computer store and get a replacement. For the most part they are almost the same construction as they still adhere to the PC format. They are sold in places like Best Buy, Staples and Office Depot. If you have a proprietary model, such as a Compaq or HP, then you may have to order one specific for that model as they are sometimes a bit different.
