My evaporper frozen on my central air unit

it may have frozen and loosened someting it might just need to be seviced

sounds like inside coil froze due to low air flow. bad fan motor, fan relay,dirty coil or filter.

Your system is frozen probably due to the unit being low on refrigerant which means you probably have a leak in the system.

Hello BWOOD Check the thermostat FAN button is in AUTO position not ON position.That might be it .The relay is in the blower unit but they RARELY become frozen/welded stuck on.

Did you hear the indoor unit running (the fan blowing)? If so, there's a good chance that either the filter is plugged or more likely, the evaporator coil is iced up and preventing any air from flowing into the dwelling.

This points to a refrigeration issue with the unit - possibly a leak or low refrigerant charge.

You should turn the A/C off and leave it off for a day. Then just turn the indoor unit fan on by selecting the fan "on" setting on your thermostat. If you feel air coming out of the vents, then the evaporator coil was probably frozen.

If you are not an HVAC tech, it's time to call for professional help.

I have some things for you to check. If you look at the outside unit the lines going into the house. Are they frozen? Have you had any yard work done, the reason I ask is they could have accidentally cut or pulled out the thermostat wires to the ac unit. Also, inside check for the same thing, frozen lines. Also, you may want to check the drain coming from the inside unit, it may be clogged.

Sounds like you have either a low refrigerant situation or an airflow problem. The lack of cold air is most likely due to a frozen up evaporator coil. You should check your filters and call your service man.

Check the filter(s). Dirty filters is the primary cause for such failures. Secondly check the thermostat and make sure that it is not turned way too low. Anything above 70 is safe from causing freezing on the unit. If the unit is already frozen then turn the unit off until it is totally thawed and then retry.

Sounds like it may have lost power. Check the breaker and the fuse at the furnace. If they are all in the on position and working then it sounds like you may need a technician. If the display is blank on the thermostat you may also want to replace the batteries.
