Short circuit somewhere, possibly in the speaker connections. It's going into safety shutdown mode. Unplug everything except the power cord. Turn it on. If it still doesn't work could be a short in the amplifier circuitry or the final output stages.

Stagepas 300.Why does one of the mic volume controls, have to be at full level to hear anything through the speakers the others are OK ?

I would suspect the input jack on that channel is either bad or has a leg come loose from the circuit board.

I have a yamaha stagepas 300 system. When I connected up the mixer to the power cord and switched on white smoke came from the air vent. What is this?

Well, if the system does turns on, it could be just an OPAMP its one of various little 8-pin ic's that are in the pre-amp section that got fried, STAGEPASS YAMAHA Powered mixers runs with a switchmode power supply, if the power amp section has any problem the power supply does not turn on, if you can add further details like if it does turn on, the green light turns on, do you hear something in the speakers, the more the info the best i can help you.

How can I obtain a plugin 100w module for my Stagepas 300 as both output transistors are short circuit plus several pcb mounted driver transistors/resistors damaged.Thank you David Bunn

You could try buying the part from Yamaha America... the music section in California. Transistors and resistors are easily replaceable so repair of the board would be the path I would take myself... but then I am an electrical engineer.

I had major static sounds from my yamaha stagepas 500. I plugged in an acoustic guitar into the mixer while running a keyboard and 2 vocal mics. I started getting crackling sounds. I changed the patch...

Chances are there is nothing wrong with the mixer. IF you accidentally turned on Phantom power, that would cause the problem. Phantom is ONLY used with condenser mics and a few DI boxes. Turning it on can create noise unless balanced lines are used everywhere.

Shure SM58 A singer has joined me with her own SM58 ,i have to turn the volume up much higher on mine ,with a more muffled sound .This is causing a prob .The PA is a Yamaha Stagepas 300

Please get the microphones checked seperately If there is an impedance difference orr if the coil is damaged then this difference of sound is possible.
So just check it out or else replace the mic.

I have a Yamaha Stagepas 300, and the mixer has always had a noisy fan. Normally, the noise goes away after a few minutes--but today it lasted for almost ten. Does this mean the fan is going? Thanks, Kathy

The stagepas 300 has two fans. Both of them are known to go bad. you can order the two fans from yamaha, but they are very pricey for what they are. (unless your service tech like me :-)) The part numbers are AAX62021 and AAX62041.

For Tascam DP02 can't record and listen

Assuming your PA is a Yamaha STAGEPAS (although I thought 500 watts per side was the biggest one you could get). Anyway, on your PA's panel you will have the karaoke machine(s) plugged into the CD ins (top of the panel), while closer to the bottom you'll see the 'monitor outs' L and R 1/4 inch jacks. These are where you'd run the L and R from the PA into your Tascam (or L alone for mono out). The monitor outs are line level and are good for independently powered speakers, recording equipment, mixers etc. Just avoid using any outputs labelled 'speakers'.
