Weedeater wont run

DOES ANYONE KNOW THE ADJUSTMENT SCREW TURNS FOR A WEEDEATER MODEL 85. I BOTTOM OUT THE SCREW THEN BACK IT OUT 1 1/2 TURNS. IT STARTS WITH A BURST AND RUNS A FEW SECONDS ON FULL AND 1/2 CHOKE THEN DIES.WITH THE CHOKE IN "RUN" POSITION IT WONT FIRE AT ALL.
ALSO THERE ARE 2 (I GUESS HIGH AND LOW IDLE SCREWS) ONE RED THE OTHER BLUE THEY CAN ONLY EACH BE TURNED A HALF TURN ONLY SO I SET THEM EACH AT 1/2 TO GET ME IN THE BALPARK.

Take the red and blue limiters off to adjust. Back out 1- 1 1/4 turns and go from there.

Weedeater will idol but won't run - it will cut off when you try to give it gas

To begin with, let's start with the basics.
  1. Are you using fresh gas? If not, you need to get some. If there is any old gas/oil mixture in the machine, remove it by pouring it into some sort of container.
  2. If want to purchase a gas/oil mixture already mixed, a store like Home Depot or Lowes has quart cans at the correct mixures. 50:1 / 40:1 etc. and it's Leaded gasoline usually 91 octane.
Weedeaters will lose their carburetor adjustment over time because of vibration or the fuel mixtures may change. The carburetor settings are crucial for the machine to run properly.
Not all carburetors are the same, but which ever one you have, you will need a special adjusting tool to do this. You can find adjusting sets locally or here. https://www.amazon.com/HIPA-Carburetor-Adjustment-Including-21-Teeth/dp/B01FAAKN7E/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1467833656&sr=8-3&keywords=carburetor+adjusting+tool

Not To do this process, you will need to identify the 2 special

adjusting screws on the top or side of the carburetor.
The screws are highlighted as HI and LO. The HI allows fuel adjustment for the weedeater at full throttle. The LO is for the adjusting the idle.

Try these steps:
1. Adjust both screws clockwise until just seated (tight) using the correct tool (from a set similar to the one above)
2. Rotate the HI screw 1 1/2 turns counter-clockwise
3. Rotate the LO screw 1 turn counter-clockwise
4. Start the machine.
5. When it's running (spitting, coughing...) adjust the LO screw a 1/4 turn either way until you get a smooth idle.
6. Pull handle to run at full throttle. If the engine is sputtering then it's getting too much fuel....adjust the HI 1/4 turn clockwise checking to see if the engine runs smoother.
7. When you get the weedeater running smoothly, there are no further adjustments to be made. Just make sure you are using FRESH gas/oil that hasn't been sitting longer than 30 days.
Good Luck!

How to adjust the carburtor high and low on my weedeater head cutter?

Hi jamesbj44...
Before you remove or try to adjust your low and high speed jets you should always count the number of turns to lightly bottom the adjusting screws.
Be sure to write the number of turns down on a piece of paper so you will know when you go to replace them.
Normally you adjust your idle jet to 1/2-3/4 turn open from the bottom seated position to start with...you re-adjust when the engine is warm turning the screw in or out till the engine runs smoothly.
The high speed jet is normally adjusted to 1 1/2- 1 3/4 open from the bottom seated positon, then re-adjusted to run smoothly when running at high speed by turning the screw in or out.

What is the proper adjustment for the carburetor on my WeedEater Hedge Trimmer?

turn both hi and low set screws in on side of carb and then back them both out 1 1/2 turns. This is called the initial adjustment and you can fine tune it from there if needed, but only turn the screws about 1/8 of a turn at a time.

I have a Weedeater brand weedeater that needs the carburator adjusted. I am not sure how far the adjustment screws need to be turned out. Can you help?

Start with about 1 1/2 turns. Then, when you get the motor started, hold the throttle to full and adjust the screw until the motor revs up and evens out. Likewise for the low speed. If you give it the gas and it dies or stutters, turn the other screw slightly 'til it revs up without hesitation.

I need to know the preset adjustment on the low and high idle on a stihl weedeater (ex. 1 1/4 turns)

all 2 cycle weedeater type carb diaphram presets / initial settings are 1.5 turns after a gentle close. You will of course have to dial them in after the initial start.. (1 and 2 screw types)

Pollan weedeater

That unit probably has a high side and a low side screw in the carb. Maybe, the screws are out of adjustment. One should have the letter L along side of it, that's the low side or idle side. The other of course would be the letter H which is the high side. That adjustment is only to be made when the unit is started and idling. When you give it full throttle that's when you adjust the H screw. Factory settings are usually 1 1/4 turns out from dead stop on the L screw and approx 3/4 to 1 turn on the H screw after unit is running. If however, this doesn't solve the problem a simple carb kit can be purchased for about 5 bucks and very easy to install. Good luck.
