Question about Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 40 GB Hard Drive
I left my computer on overnight, and in the morning I found out that it had BSODd. I do not recall the message, but now the BIOS does not recognize the drive, and nor can anything else. I tried connecting it to my laptop through the use of a USB/IDE adapter, but that did not work either. As is a common problem, I'm sure, this drive has important information, and any help in recovery would be very much appreciated.
So nothing works to connect to the drive have you tried using that drive as a slave to another? I had a drive with photos on it BSoD and i had to get that adapter to plug it into a PC that worked... once there you have to right click the permissions of the new drive and take ownership of the entire device. this will allow you to pull the files you need off of it.
What happend to the drive is you had an error occur on one of the main system sectors (boot sector) which is just bad luck.
Worse case scenario if your files are really really important there are plenty of places you can send it and they will be able to extract your data at a cost. For a fee they can recover data from drives that have been burnt. so you should be good.
