This specific model, and most of the Singer Touch and Sew series of machines has several plastic gears that drive either or both the hook, and the feed dogs. Due to age and general wear, these gears eventually break. It is almost 100% likely that one of your gears is broken. It is recommended that you replace all of the plastic gears in your machine at the same time. If you just replace the one broken gear, you are merely shifting the weakest point in the system to another gear, which will also break shortly. If you replace all the gears at once, they will be of equal age and strength. It is best to get this done at a reputable sewing machine repair shop, as this repair involves a complete re-timing of the machine, and can be quite difficult for the novice.

SOURCE: I am free sewing using the darning foot (quilting

Hello

Possibly your bobbin is in the machine backwards or upside down. The thread needs to come off the bobbin in a certain way (or direction) specific to each machine. If it will fit, try flipping the bobbin over or around.

Another thing might be the thread tension, make sure you have threaded the feed from the spool of thread properly. Often it will do this on its own.

If the bobbin is in correctly and through the **** in the side of the bobbin casing, make sure the top is threaded correctly. The part the goes up and down, I don't know the name, but it is right above the needle and if the thread is not through this part you will get a mess on the underside.

Singer 3232 machine was sewing fine now motor runs but needle does not move up and down

Check if the machine is in the bobbin winding mode. To wind the bobbin, the bobbin spindle has to be moved to the right. (The hand wheel will not turn if the bobbin spindle is in this position.) If it is, move the spindle to the left.

If the hand wheel turns, then check for a thread jam. Remove the top thread and take out the bobbin case. Gently turn the hand wheel forward and backwards until the thread comes free of the hook in the bobbin race. Follow this by cleaning any lint from the bobbin race of the sewing machine.

The last possibility is that the belt has failed. This belt transfers the energy from the motor to the needle bar. One source of the belt is http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/motor-belt-singer-007158xxl5.aspx . You can find YouTube videos on changing the belt. There are other parts that transfer the forces form the belt to the needle bar. However, I suggest you find a good sewing machine mechanic if any of these parts fail.

The manual has good pictures of the bobbin spindle on page 11 (page 18 of the PDF). Singer has the manual on their support page: http://www.singerco.com/support/instruction-manuals . The direct link to the manual is http://www.singerco.com/uploads/download/e06cb85928ace9753f1a7124f4a2df6168ffecf0.pdf .

I hope this helps.

Singer touch & Sew machine model 648, the bobbin mechanism wont move all together. I need help!

The bobbin push button (button next to bobbin under the throat plate) must be in the sew position. When it is in the wind ( down to left) the machine will not sew. You need to push the button to the right to release it.

Bobbin is not moving at all. I have taken it out of the case and took the case out and reinserted it and still nothing. I have also checked for lint broken needle and ect. The total case is not moving...

it possible that there is something wrong with the hook or hook race or even the sewing machine could be out of time,, it would be a good idea to have the machine checked..

We have a Touch & Sew 640 that we ARE trying to get running, and we need a manual, and specifically how do w thread the bobbin.

To wind the bobbin, select straight stitch, thread the machine up as normal making sure the presser foot is up, open the slide plate, push the little button over to raise the winder, take the thread and wind it round the presser foot screw a few times, press on the foot control slowly and the bobbin will wind, when you have enough, stop, close the slide plate to drop the winder down, pull the threads to the back and start sewing. for manuals try www.tandtrepair.com

Bobbin thread will not catch

This is really one for an engineer. It involves loosening the bobbin race and moving it slightly till the hook catches the thread, and then retightening. Can be an awkward job requiring 3 hands, even for an expert!
