Re: ringtone change

The ipaq is not playing large files. It only makes a small beep sound if the wav file is big. I am using a wav file of less than 800 k and it works.

How do i put ringtones on my htc/6900

It's really simple, just drop the mp3s in the windows/rings folder and you are good to go

If you dont know how to set the ringtone go to Settings-Sounds & Notifications-Notifications and find phone-incoming call and change your ringtone

I need to know how to delete ringtones and how to assign ringtones to contacts

to delete ringtones, open the file explorer application from progams. navigate to device\my documents\ my ringtones , select the ones you want and delete. nice and ease. set a new ringtone either in the sound and notifications section of settings, or on a file, tap and hold on the screen on a file you wish to have as a ringtone and select "set a ringtone". if you are looking for these as a message tone you need to convert the file to a .wav file and import this to the windows folder on the device then select in the sounds and notifications tab in settings.

assigning tones to contacts can only be done if your contacts are outlook contacts, not sim contacts. open and edit a contact, scroll down to ringtone, although again with these i belive the file must be a .wav file and be located in the windows directory.

I have an I-mate pda2k and have found that if I convert the mp3 to a wav file (using Fission on the mac) I can assign any of these as a ring tone. There is an option in settings to 'add ringtones' and this is where you set the wavs to be used. They do not have the ability to apply an mp3 as a ringtone, however they WILL play your mp3s with windows media player.
Not a solution but a part explanation lol
Hope it helps someone.

Can i put a song from my SD card as an ringtone on my pantech duo?

You can but the file needs to be labeled My Ringtones. If you have tones in the ringtone folder and its still not working check the size and format of the tones, windows mobile 6 was only designed to accept tones under 320k and in .mp3 or .wav formats.

Using a ringtone for text alert

Always think carefully about altering your phone's window registry for any reason. If you follow the instructions all should be fine. If you are a complete novice, I wouldn't recommend it, you could seriously mess up your phone. Use at your own discretion.

*WARNING I DO NOT know the extent at which this works ( "How many tones that can be added""How long the ringtones can be"FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS!! I AM NOT/WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE CASUED TO YOUR PANTECH DUO BY PERFORMING THIS PROCESS!! Doing this involves tinkering with the phones defaults if you change something that you are not supposed to the phone may not work causing the phones warranty to be void (Solution:If your not sure what your doing DONT DO IT). Before you start make sure all ringtones you desire to be used as alerts for text messages, voicemail, etc. are in the "\My Documents\My Ringtones\" folder. This is very important as you will see. Also make sure all ringtones are short enough (15 seconds MAX) that they will be recognized as useable tones*

1. Download the Mobile Registry Editor (Don't worry it's Free)

2. Connect your Pantech Duo to your Desktop/Laptop and run the registry editor

3. Once your device and has been connected to the Editor open "HKEY_CURRENT_USER" (should be the second file folder down)

4. Open "Control Panel" (this should also be the second file folder down)

5. Click (and only click) "Sounds" (Should be the 15th file folder down *make sure its just "Sounds" and not "SoundCatergories"*)

6. Double Click "All Sounds"

7. In the pop up menu box scroll down to the end of the list of assorted factory tones

8. Put your cursor at the end of the last line and press enter to creat a new line to type in

9. Type in " \My Documents\My Ringtones\ " immediately by the exact name of the file you wish to enter ( EXAMPLE: \My Documents\My Ringtones\ MAKE SURE YOU ADD THE FILE TYPE (.wma,.mp3, etc.)

10. Click "OK" when you are finsihed adding your ringtones

11. On your Pantech Duo from the home menu Click Start>Settings>Sounds>Text Message then scroll through the tone options to reveal that tones you added are options and and can be play automatically!!

Reply and tell me if it worked, if it didn't, or if the directions are unclear P.S. have someone text you to double check if it works

Imate ring tones

Yes it's possible but not as an mp3 file. I have found that you have to convert the mp3 to a wav file. I do this using Fission on my Mac but I'm sure there's a pc equivalent. When you send the wav file to the pda2k it will say it doesn't recognise the file. You need to 'send it anyway'.
When you have it on your phone - there is an option under settings to 'add ringtone'. Once you have done this, the tone/song you are adding will be available for use AS a ringtone.

The pda2k will play mp3 just fine with windows media player but cannot use these as a ringtone unless you convert them.
Hope it's of some help.
