Question about Flotec 1 - 1/2 Sprinkler Pump Composite Quick Priming High - Capacity 115/230v

1 Answer

Sprinkler pump keeps loosing it prime. Intake line runs 90' to water source. Primed the intake line from water source back to pump. Have been using this pump for 10 plus years and have never had such a hard time getting it primed. Prime it and it will run for a while then loose prime. Reprime and go again and again. Have redone connections where there was any leakage. Any suggestions?

Thanks for your suggestion, have new check valve and have redone all pipe connections between foot valve and pump. No water leaks with putting presure on the line. Still having issue with pump loosing prime.

Found the problem, intake line had hole in it somewhere underground. Ran new line and everything works great. Determined this by trying to keep water pressure in the intake line

My sm 909-nhw 14 1" pump just stopped sucking water when I was hooking it back to the filter. It did not loose the prime and the power source was working. Could it need a new impeller?

Hi Pamela:
Several possibles:
- Power supply - does the pump motot actually run
- Pump function - if the motor is running, is the pump spinning?
- Prime - did it trick you and lose the prime?

IF THE PUMP IS SPINNING, IT IS PRIMED, THE VALVES ARE OPEN, AND INTAKE WATER IS AVAILABLE, THE ONLY REASON I CAN THINK THAT IT WON'T WORK IS THAT THE IMPELLER SHAFT IS BROKEN.

You can't prime the pump with the same water source you are trying to build pressure in. Shut off all the water going to the house, use the neighbors hose or have several gallons (maybe 5) to prime the pump and continue priming pump until it starts to build head pressure then plug prime hole.

IT SHOWS "VENTILATE" IN PRINCIPAL WINDOW. WHAT

Hi
That means the pump needs to be primed by running water through the wand. Push the water button and open the knob on the right. You will hear the pump change tone when it primes and the light or message will disappear. If you have a restriction in the intake line the message will not go away. There is a flow meter inside the machine that measures water flow. If the flow meter does not spin when the pump is running, the computer thinks that the pump is not primed. Coffee grounds will get into the intake and restrict the flow meter. If you get a restriction in the water intake (below the water tank, on the machine) the pump may run and water comes out, but the flow meter does not create the jet of water needed to spin the turbine wheel to send impulses to the computer. You get the ventilate message. One thing to remember is when you are working on the water system (have the water tank off) do not fill the bean hopper and visa versa. Keep them covered when working on the other. Cross contamination will damage a machine fast
The first thing that I would check is the tip of the steam wand for a plug. If that is clear then I would suspect a clogged flow meter. If you can get the flow meter out it twists apart and don't loose the parts and the dot on the turbine goes up. Clean out the small opening on the bottom pipes where the hoses attach. Look inside and make sure that they are clear before reassembling.bansheracer_15.jpgbansheracer_16.jpg
